Abstract

Various embodiments of systems and techniques for tracking destinations on a mobile computing device are described. In one or more embodiments, the mobile computing device may comprise or implement hardware and/or software configured to determine arrival at a destination and what is situated at the destination. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Claims

1. A mobile computing device, comprising:

one or more processors; and

a non-transitory computer-readable memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors and containing program code configured to cause the one or more processors to perform operations including;

storing a date at which the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with a vehicle based communication device, a time at which the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device, and a description of what is situated at the location where the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

2. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein a latitude and longitude of the mobile computing device at the time the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

3. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein a date when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

4. The mobile computing device of claim 3, wherein a range of dates spent at the location is stored in the memory.

5. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein a time when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

6. The mobile computing device of claim 5, wherein a range of time spent at the location is stored in the memory.

7. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the description of what is situated at the location comprises at least one description selected from the group consisting of:

an owner of property situated at the location; and

a description of a structure situated at the location.

8. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the description of what is situated at the location comprises at least one description selected from the group consisting of:

a street address at the location; and

a position on a road at the location.

9. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

10. The mobile computing device of claim 9, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

sensing cessation of operation of a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and the sensing the cessation of operation of the vehicle.

11. The mobile computing device of claim 9, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

sensing removal of a key from a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and the sensing the removal of the key from the vehicle.

12. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that are executable and when executed cause a computing system to:

store a date at which a mobile computing device ceased to communicate with a vehicle based communication device;

store a time at which the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device; and

store a description of what is situated at a location where the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein a latitude and longitude of the mobile computing device at the time the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device is stored.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein a date when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein a range of dates spent at the location is stored.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein a time when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein a range of time spent at the location is stored.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the description of what is situated at the location comprises at least one description selected from the group consisting of:

an owner of property situated at the location; and

a description of a structure situated at the location.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the description of what is situated at the location comprises at least one description selected from the group consisting of:

a street address at the location; and

a position on a road at the location.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the instructions when executed further cause the computing system to:

determine that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device, wherein storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 20, wherein the instructions when executed further cause the computing system to:

sense cessation of operation of a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and sensing the cessation of operation of the vehicle.

22. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 20, wherein the instructions when executed further cause the computing system to:

sense removal of a key from a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and sensing the removal of the key from the vehicle.

23. A method, comprising:

storing, by at least one of a mobile computing device and a vehicle based communication device, a date at which the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device;

storing, by the at least one of the mobile computing device and the vehicle based communication device, a time at which the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device; and

storing, by the at least one of the mobile computing device and the vehicle based communication device;

a description of what is situated at a location where the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein a latitude and longitude of the mobile computing device at the time the mobile computing device ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

25. The method of claim 23, wherein a date when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

26. The method of claim 23, wherein a time when the mobile computing device next communicated with the vehicle based communication device is stored in the memory.

27. The method of claim 23, wherein the description of what is situated at the location comprises at least one description selected from the group consisting of:

an owner of property situated at the location; and

a description of a structure situated at the location.

28. The method of claim 23, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

sensing cessation of operation of a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and the sensing the cessation of operation of the vehicle.

30. The method of claim 28, wherein the operations performed by the one or more processors further includes:

sensing removal of a key from a vehicle associated with the vehicle based communication device, wherein the storing the date, the time, and the description is performed in response to the determining that the mobile computing device has ceased to communicate with the vehicle based communication device and the sensing the removal of the key from the vehicle.
