Abstract

A display mounting system comprises a display (20, 120, 420, 720) having a perimeter edge surrounding a front face (30, 730) comprising a display region (34, 734) and a rear face (32, 732). An opening (26, 126, 426, 726) extends into the front face (30, 730) and is spaced from the perimeter edge of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) to receive and facilitate mounting of a display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244).

Claims

1. A tablet mounting system comprising:

a display (20, 120, 420, 720) comprising a perimeter edge surrounding a front face (30, 730) comprising a display region (34, 734) and a rear face (32, 732); and

an opening (26, 126, 426, 726) extending into the front face (30, 730) and spaced from the perimeter edge of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) to receive and facilitate mounting of a display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244).

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the opening (126, 426, 726) extends through the display (120, 420, 720) from the front face (30, 730) to the rear face (32, 732).

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the opening (126, 426, 726) is configured to receive and facilitate mounting of a first display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) on a rear side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720).

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the opening (126, 426, 726) is configured to receive and facilitate mounting of a second display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) on a front side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720).

5. The system of claim 2 further comprising a retainer (452) along an interior surface of the opening (426, 726) to releasably retain the display support accessory (444, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) within the opening (426, 726).

6. The system of claim 5 further comprising a power connection (454) along the interior surface of the opening (426, 726) to receive power from the display support accessory (444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) within the opening (426, 726).

7. The system of claim 6 further comprising a data transceiver (456) along the interior surface of the opening (26, 126, 426, 726) to transmit and receive data signals to and from the display support accessory (444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244).

8. The system of claim 2 further comprising a power connection (454) along the interior surface of the opening (26, 126, 426, 726) to receive power from the display support accessory (444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) within the opening (26, 126, 426, 726).

9. The system of claim 2 further comprising a data transceiver (456) along the interior surface of the opening (26, 126, 426, 726) to transmit and receive data signals to and from the display support accessory (444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244).

The system of claim 2 further comprising the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) received within the opening (26, 126, 426, 726), wherein the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) comprises a mounting projection (48, 148, 248, 348, 349, 448, 548, 748) and is located on a first side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) with the mounting projection (48, 148, 248, 348, 349, 448, 548, 748) extending from the first side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) through the opening (26, 126, 426, 726) to a second side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) and wherein the mounting projection (48, 148, 248, 348, 349, 448, 548, 748) is flush with the second side of the display (20, 120, 420, 720).

11. The system of claim 2 further comprising the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244), wherein the accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) comprises:

a projection (748) received within the opening (26, 126, 426, 726); and

a hinge (749) coupled to the projection (748).

12. The system of claim 1, with opening (26, 126, 426, 726) comprises an elongate slot between the display region (34, 734) and the perimeter edge proximate a bottom of the display region (34, 734).

13. The system of claim 1 further comprising the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) received within the opening (26, 126, 426, 726), the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) selected from a group of accessories consisting of:

a keyboard deck;

a power/charge dock;

a stand and a wall mount.

14. A display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) for use with a display (20, 120, 420, 720) having a perimeter edge surrounding a front face (30, 730) comprising a display region (34, 734) and a rear face (32, 732) and an opening (26, 126, 426, 726) extending into the front face (30, 730) and spaced from the perimeter edge of the display (20, 120, 420, 720), the display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) comprising:

a panel support portion (46, 746) to bear against and support the display (20, 120, 420, 720) with respect to a flat planar surface; and

a projection (48, 148, 248, 348, 349, 448, 548, 748) extending from the panel support portion (46, 746) to extend through the opening of the display (20, 120, 420, 720).

15. A method comprising:

providing a display (20, 120, 420, 720) having an opening (26, 126, 426, 726) extending into a front face (30, 730) of the display (20, 120, 420, 720) spaced from an edge of the display; and

removably mounting a display support accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) to the display (20, 120, 420, 720) with a portion of the accessory (44, 144, 244, 344, 345, 444, 544, 744, 844, 944, 1044, 1144, 1244) within the opening (26, 126, 426, 726).
