Abstract

A method for controlling an information processing apparatus includes specifying a folder for storing a file among a plurality of folders, displaying character string candidates for setting a file name of a file based on a folder path of the specified folder, selecting a character string from a plurality of displayed character strings, and setting the selected character string as the file name of the file.

Claims

1. An information processing apparatus comprising:

a specification unit configured to specify a folder for storing a file among a plurality of folders;

a display unit configured to display character string candidates for setting a file name of a file based on a folder path of the folder specified by the specification unit;

a selection unit configured to select a character string from a plurality of character strings displayed by the display unit; and

a setting unit configured to set the character string selected by the selection unit as the file name of the file.

2. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a division unit configured to divide a folder path of a folder selected by the selection unit into a plurality of character strings,

wherein the display unit displays the plurality of character strings divided by the division unit as character string candidates for setting the file name of the file.

3. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein, when a plurality of character strings is selected by the selection unit, the setting unit sets as a file name a character string composed of the plurality of character strings sorted in order of selection.

4. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein, when a plurality of character strings is selected by the selection unit, the setting unit inserts a specific sign between character strings included in the plurality of character strings.

5. The information processing apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the specific sign can be changed by a user.

6. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a transmitting unit configured to transmit the file having the file name set by the setting unit.

7. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a storage unit configured to hierarchically store the plurality of folders.

8. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a registration unit configured to register character string candidates in advance,

wherein, in addition to the character string candidates displayed based on the folder path of the folder specified by the specification unit, the display unit displays the character strings registered in advance by the registration unit as character string candidates for setting the file name of the file.

9. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising an acquisition unit configured to acquire date and time,

wherein, in addition to the character string candidates displayed based on the folder path of the folder specified by the specification unit, the display unit displays the date and time acquired by the acquisition unit as character string candidates for setting the file name of the file.

10. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a reading unit configured to read a document; and

a generation unit configured to generate the file based on image data of the document read by the reading unit.

11. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a receiving unit configured to receive a setting file stored in the folder specified by the specification unit,

wherein the display unit displays character string candidates for setting the file name of the file based on the setting file received by the receiving unit.

12. The information processing apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the setting file includes information indicating a display order of character string candidates for setting the file name of the file, and

wherein the display unit displays character strings included in the setting file received by the receiving unit, as character string candidates for setting the file name of the file, according to the display order.

13. A method for controlling an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:

specifying a folder for storing a file among a plurality of folders;

displaying character string candidates for setting a file name of a file based on a folder path of the specified folder;

selecting a character string from a plurality of displayed character strings; and

setting the selected character string as the file name of the file.

14. A non-transitory storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method for controlling an information processing apparatus, the program comprising:

specifying a folder for storing a file among a plurality of folders;

displaying character string candidates for setting a file name of a file based on a folder path of the specified folder;

selecting a character string from a plurality of displayed character strings; and

setting the selected character string as the file name of the file.
