Abstract

A sonic monitor system for a tank is disclosed in which the system comprises a remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung opening of a storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the storage tank and for generating a signal indicative of the level of fluid within the storage tank, and a receiver device for receiving the signal indicative of the level of fluid within the storage tank, the receiver device having a display and a siren with the receiver device actuating the siren when the receiver device determines that the level of fluid within the tank is at a predetermined level.

Claims

1. A sonic monitor system for a tank comprising:

a remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung or other opening of a storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the storage tank and for generating a signal indicative of the level of fluid within the storage tank; and

a receiver device for receiving the signal indicative of the level of fluid within the storage tank, the receiver device having a display and a siren with the receiver device actuating the siren when the receiver device determines that the level of fluid within the tank is at a predetermined level.

2. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 1 wherein the remote tank sensor device comprises a sonar range finder device.

3. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 1 wherein the remote tank sensor device comprises a threaded nipple that is adapted to be threaded into the bung opening of the storage tank, a cap is threaded onto the nipple, and a cord grip threaded into the cap.

4. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 1 wherein the receiver device comprises an enclosure, the display, a keypad having buttons, the siren, and a cord grip, all integrated together to provide for operation of the sonic monitor system.

5. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 4 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in an alarm mode where the siren is actuated and the display flashes a predetermined color.

6. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 5 wherein the alarm mode may be canceled by pressing one of the buttons on the keypad.

7. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 1 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in an alarm mode where the display flashes a predetermined color.

8. A sonic monitor system for a tank comprising:

a first remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung or other opening of a first storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the first storage tank and for generating a first signal indicative of the level of fluid within the first storage tank;

a second remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung or other opening of a second storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the second storage tank and for generating a second signal indicative of the level of fluid within the second storage tank; and

a receiver device for receiving the first signal indicative of the level of fluid within the first storage tank, and the second signal indicative of the level of fluid within the second storage tank, the receiver device having a display and a siren with the receiver device actuating the siren when the receiver device determines that the level of fluid within the first tank is at a predetermined level or the level of fluid within the second tank is at a predetermined level.

9. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the first remote tank sensor device comprises a sonar range finder device.

10. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the first remote tank sensor device comprises a threaded nipple that is adapted to be threaded into the bung or other opening of the storage tank, a cap is threaded onto the nipple, and a cord grip threaded into the cap.

11. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the second remote tank sensor device comprises a sonar range finder device.

12. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the second remote tank sensor device comprises a threaded nipple that is adapted to be threaded into the opening of the storage tank, a cap is threaded onto the nipple, and a cord grip threaded into the cap.

13. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the receiver device comprises an enclosure, the display, a keypad having a number of buttons, the siren, and a cord grip, all integrated together to provide for operations of the sonic monitor system.

14. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 13 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in an alarm mode where the siren is actuated and the display flashes a predetermined color.

15. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 14 wherein the alarm mode may be canceled by pressing one of the buttons on the keypad.

16. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 8 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in an alarm mode where the display flashes a predetermined color.

17. A sonic monitor system for a tank comprising:

a first remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung or other opening of a first storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the first storage tank, and for generating a first signal indicative of the level of fluid within the first storage tank;

a second remote tank sensor device for installation in a bung or other opening of a second storage tank for determining a level of fluid within the second storage tank and for generating a second signal indicative of the level of fluid within the second storage tank; and

a receiver device for receiving the first signal indicative of the level of fluid within the first storage tank and the second signal indicative of the level of fluid within the second storage tank, the receiver device having a display and a siren with the receiver device actuating the siren when the receiver device determines that the level of fluid within the first tank is at a predetermined level or the level of fluid within the second tank is at a predetermined level, and the receiver device being capable of determining whether the first remote tank sensor device is active and the second remote sensor device is active.

18. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 17 wherein the first remote tank sensor device comprises a sonar range finder device.

19. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 17 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in a first alarm mode where the display flashes a first predetermined color.

20. The sonic monitor system for a tank of claim 19 wherein the receiver device is capable of being placed in a second alarm mode where the display flashes a second predetermined color.
