Abstract

A method and an apparatus for a User Equipment (UE) to receive a first type of a Physical Downlink Control CHannel (PDCCH) or a second type of a PDCCH in a Transmission Time Interval (TTI) are provided whereby the first type of PDCCH and the second type of PDCCH convey respective Downlink Control Information (DCI) formats containing Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) bits scrambled with a Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI). The method includes receiving by the UE a first bitmap associated with a number of TTIs equal to the first bitmap size, wherein each element of the first bitmap indicates whether a TTI is of a first type or of a second type, decoding by the UE only PDCCH of the first type if the TTI is of the first type, and decoding by the UE only PDCCH of the second type if the TTI is of the second type.

Claims

1. A method for a wireless communication, the method comprising:

receiving a bitmap associated with a plurality of subframes, wherein a bit of the bitmap indicates whether a user equipment (UE) monitors a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) of a first type in a subframe of the plurality of subframes or not, a size of the bitmap corresponding to a number of the subframe in the plurality of subframes; and

monitoring the PDCCH of the first type based on the bitmap to obtain downlink control information (DCI).

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the bitmap is received via a higher layer signaling.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

monitoring a PDCCH of a second type to obtain DCI, and

wherein the DCI from the PDCCH of the first type comprises dedicated information, and the DCI from the PDCCH of the second type comprises common information.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the PDCCH of the first type is enhanced PDCCH (ePDCCH), and the PDCCH of the second type is PDCCH.

The method of claim 4, wherein transmission of the PDCCH of the first type in the subframe is over a subset of the operating bandwidth and over all symbols of the subframe starting after at most the predetermined number symbols from the beginning of the subframe, and transmission of the PDCCH of the second type is over an operating bandwidth and over at most a predetermined number of symbols in a subframe starting from the beginning of the subframe.

6. A method for a wireless communication, the method comprising:

transmitting a bitmap associated with a plurality of subframes, wherein a bit of the bitmap indicates whether a user equipment (UE) monitors a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) of a first type in a subframe of the plurality of subframes or not, a size of the bitmap corresponding to a number of the subframe in the plurality of subframes; and

transmitting downlink control information (DCI) on the PDCCH of the first type based on the bitmap.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the bitmap is transmitted via a higher layer signaling.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

transmitting DCI on a PDCCH of a second type, and

wherein the DCI on the PDCCH of the first type comprises dedicated information, and the DCI on the PDCCH of the second type comprises common information.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the PDCCH of the first type is enhanced PDCCH (ePDCCH), and the PDCCH of the second type is PDCCH.

The method of claim 9, wherein transmission of the PDCCH of the first type in the subframe is over a subset of the operating bandwidth and over all symbols of the subframe starting after at most the predetermined number symbols from the beginning of the subframe, and transmission of the PDCCH of the second type is over an operating bandwidth and over at most a predetermined number of symbols in a subframe starting from the beginning of the subframe.

11. A user equipment (UE) for a wireless communication, the UE comprising:

a transceiver to transmit and receive signals to and from a base station;

a controller configured to;

control the transceiver to receive a bitmap associated with a plurality of subframes, wherein a bit of the bitmap indicates whether the user equipment (UE) monitors a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) of a first type in a subframe of the plurality of subframes or not, a size of the bitmap corresponding to a number of the subframe in the plurality of subframes, and

control to monitor the PDCCH of the first type based on the bitmap to obtain downlink control information (DCI).

12. The UE of claim 11, wherein the bitmap is received via a higher layer signaling.

13. The UE of claim 11, wherein the controller is further configured to control to monitor a PDCCH of a second type to obtain DCI, and

wherein the DCI from the PDCCH of the first type comprises dedicated information, and the DCI from the PDCCH of the second type comprises common information.

14. The UE of claim 13, wherein the PDCCH of the first type is enhanced PDCCH (ePDCCH), and the PDCCH of the second type is PDCCH.

15. The UE of claim 14, wherein transmission of the PDCCH of the first type in the subframe is over a subset of the operating bandwidth and over all symbols of the subframe starting after at most the predetermined number symbols from the beginning of the subframe, and transmission of the PDCCH of the second type is over an operating bandwidth and over at most a predetermined number of symbols in a subframe starting from the beginning of the subframe.

16. A base station for a wireless communication, the base station comprising:

a transceiver to transmit and receive signals to and from a user equipment (UE);

a controller configured to;

control the transceiver to transmit a bitmap associated with a plurality of subframes, wherein a bit of the bitmap indicates whether the user equipment (UE) monitors a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) of a first type in a subframe of the plurality of subframes or not, a size of the bitmap corresponding to a number of the subframe in the plurality of subframes, and

transmit downlink control information (DCI) on the PDCCH of the first type based on the bitmap.

17. The base station of claim 16, wherein the bitmap is transmitted via a higher layer signaling.

18. The base station of claim 16, wherein the controller is further configured to control to transmit DCI on a PDCCH of a second type, and

wherein the DCI on the PDCCH of the first type comprises dedicated information, and the DCI on the PDCCH of the second type comprises common information.

19. The base station of claim 18, wherein the PDCCH of the first type is enhanced PDCCH (ePDCCH), and the PDCCH of the second type is PDCCH.

20. The base station of claim 19, wherein transmission of the PDCCH of the first type in the subframe is over a subset of the operating bandwidth and over all symbols of the subframe starting after at most the predetermined number symbols from the beginning of the subframe, and transmission of the PDCCH of the second type is over an operating bandwidth and over at most a predetermined number of symbols in a subframe starting from the beginning of the subframe.
