Abstract

For selecting a network, a method is disclosed that includes associating interface executable code with one or more network interfaces, selecting one of the network interfaces responsive to detecting network communication originating at the executable code, and directing the network communication to the selected network interface.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a processor;

a display accessible by the processor; and

a memory that stores machine instructions executable by the processor, the instructions comprising;

code that associates executable code with one or more network interfaces;

code that selects one of the network interfaces responsive to detecting network communication originating at the executable code; and

code that directs the network communication to the selected network interface.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the selection of one of the network interfaces is further based on an indication from the executable code.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the associated network interfaces are included in a prioritized list, the code selects the network interface further selects based on a priority value.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the code that selects the network interface further selects based on a destination device of the network communication.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the code that associates the executable code associates further based on an indicator from a user.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the executable code is selected from the group consisting of an application, an operating system, a driver, and a library.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the executable code is included in a category, the one or more network interfaces associated with the category.

8. A method comprising:

associating executable code with one or more network interfaces;

selecting one of the network interfaces responsive to detecting network communication originating at the executable code; and

directing the network communication to the selected network interface.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein selecting of one of the network interfaces is further based on an indication from the executable code.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising prioritizing the associated network interfaces, the selecting further based a priority value.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein selecting the network interface is further based on a destination device of the network communication.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the associating is based on an indicator from a user.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the executable code is selected from the group consisting of an application, an operating system, a driver, and a library.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the executable code is included in a category, the associating the executable code with one or more network interfaces associating by associating the executable code with the category.

15. A program product comprising a computer readable storage medium that stores code executable by a processor, the executable code comprising code to perform:

associating a executable code with one or more network interfaces;

selecting one of the network interfaces responsive to detecting network communication originating at the executable code; and

directing the network communication to the selected network interface.

16. The program product of claim 15, wherein selecting of one of the network interfaces is further based on an indication from the executable code.

17. The program product of claim 15, wherein the code further performs prioritizing the associated network interfaces, the selecting further based a priority value.

18. The program product of claim 15, wherein selecting the network interface is further based on a destination device of the network communication.

19. The program product of claim 15, wherein the associating is based on an indicator from a user.

20. The program product of claim 15, wherein the executable code is selected from the group consisting of an application, an operating system, a driver, and a library.
