Abstract

Systems and methods for collecting client-side application performance monitoring (APM) information in distributed computer systems. An example method may comprise: inserting a script code fragment into an electronic document to be transmitted to a client computing device, wherein the script code fragment is to issue a request for loading an object from a second computer system, the request comprising at least one of: a parameter of a client browser executed by the client computing device, a parameter of an application being executed within the client browser, or a parameter of a current session of the client browser; and transmitting the electronic document to at least one of: the second computer system or the client computing device.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

inserting, by a first computer system, a script code fragment into an electronic document to be transmitted to a client computing device, wherein the script code fragment is to issue a request for loading an object from a second computer system, the request comprising at least one of;

a parameter of a client browser executed by the client computing device, a parameter of an application being executed within the client browser, or a parameter of a current session of the client browser; and

transmitting the electronic document to at least one of;

the second computer system or the client computing device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein inserting the script code fragment comprises generating the script code fragment.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, from the second computer system, a log record comprising at least part of the request.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first computer system is provided by an application server.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the second computer system is provided by an edge server.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the object is provided by a transparent single-pixel image.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the script code fragment comprises a Javascript function.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameters of the session is provided by an identifier of the session.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameter of the client browser is provided by at least one of:

a type of the client browser, an operating system of the client computing device, or a window size of the client browser.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameter of the application is provided by an amount of memory available to the application or a server response time measured by the application.

11. A distributed computer system, comprising:

a first computer system;

a second computer system communicatively coupled to the first computer system via a network;

wherein the first computer system is configured to;

insert a script code fragment into an electronic document to be transmitted to a client computing device, wherein the script code fragment is to issue a request for loading an object from a second computer system, the request comprising at least one of;

a parameter of a client browser executed by the client computing device, a parameter of an application being executed within the client browser, or a parameter of a current session of the client browser; and

transmit the electronic document to at least one of;

the second computer system or the client computing device.

12. The distributed computer system of claim 11, wherein the first computer system is further configured to:

receive, from the second computer system, a log record comprising at least part of the request.

13. The distributed computer system of claim 11, wherein the first computer system is provided by an application server.

14. The distributed computer system of claim 11, wherein the second computer system is provided by an edge server.

15. The distributed computer system of claim 11, wherein the object is provided by a transparent single-pixel image.

16. A computer-readable non-transitory storage medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a first computer system, cause the first computer system to perform operations comprising:

inserting, by a first computer system, a script code fragment into an electronic document to be transmitted to a client computing device, wherein the script code fragment is to issue a request for loading an object from a second computer system, the request comprising at least one of;

a parameter of a client browser executed by the client computing device, a parameter of an application being executed within the client browser, or a parameter of a current session of the client browser; and

transmitting the electronic document to at least one of;

the second computer system or the client computing device.

17. The computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 16, wherein inserting the script code fragment comprises generating the script code fragment.

18. The computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 16, further comprising executable instructions causing the first computer system to:

receive, from the second computer system, a log record comprising at least part of the request.

19. The computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 16, wherein the object is provided by a transparent single-pixel image.

20. The computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 16, wherein the script code fragment comprises a Javascript function.
