Abstract

Bioresorbable inflatable devices and tunnel incision tool and methods for treating and enlarging a tissue or an organ or a tube or a vessel or a cavity. The device is composed of a hollow expanding pouch made of a resorbable material or a perforated material that can be attached to a filling element. The pouch can be filled with a biocompatible materials, one or more times in few days interval, after the insertion of the device. While filling the pouch every few days the tissue expands and the filling material if it is bioactive start to function. The tunnel incision tool composed of a little blade that emerges from the surface of the tool in order to make shallow incisions in the surrounding tissue therefore enabling easy expansion of the tissue. This device and method can be used for example for: horizontal and vertical bone augmentation in the jaws and the tunnel incision tool is used to make shallow incisions in the periosteum when using the tunnel technique, sinus augmentation when the device is placed beneath the Schneiderian tissue, vessels widening if the pouch become a stent, fixating bone fractures etc.

Claims

1. A method for bone regeneration in the jaws comprising:

(a) peeling the gums from a surface of a jaw bone facing the oral cavity;

(b) placing a container adjacent said surface of said jaw bone, said container having a first region and a second region, said first region of said container having, before said placing adjacent said surface of said jaw bone, several openings which are open sufficiently to allow penetration of bone tissue and blood vessels, said first region of said container being at least partially bio-dissipative, said second region of said container being less penetrable to tissue than said first region of said container;

(c) leaving said container between said surface of said jaw bone and said gums for at least several days while said openings in said first region of said container being facing said surface of said jaw bone and said second region of said container being facing said gums and said container contains a material that promotes bone tissue growth, to promote bone tissue ingrowth inside said container through said openings in said first region of said container, to enlarge said jaw bone towards said oral cavity.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said second region of said container includes a guided bone regeneration membrane located so as to be adjacent said gums.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein prior to said placing of said container adjacent said surface of said jaw bone, forming a subperiosteal tunnel between said jaw bone and said gums, for insertion of said container inside said subperiosteal tunnel.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said container is inserted inside said subperiosteal tunnel while being at least partially inside a conduit.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said first region of said container exhibits a first mean time to dispersion and said second region of said container exhibits a second mean time to dispersion longer than said first mean time to dispersion.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein part of said second region of said container is made from a biocompatible metal and another part of said second region of said container is made from a slowly dissipative bio-dissipative material.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein said material that promotes bone tissue growth includes rigid particles.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein said first region of said container being made from a non-stiff sheet.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein said second region of said container being more stiff than said first region of said container.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said openings in said first region of said container are sized to prevent leakage of said material that promotes bone tissue growth.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein said first region of said container is located at one side of said container and said second region of said container is located at the opposite side of said container.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein said container includes a fixation component to prevent movements of said container.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein said second region of said container includes at least one biocompatible material selected from the group made up of:

a metal, a metal alloy, a polymer, a copolymer, collagen, ceramics and any combination thereof.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein perforations are absent in said second region of said container.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein said material that promotes bone tissue growth being injected inside said container.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein said first region of said container and said second region of said container being made from non-stiff sheets.

17. The method of claim 1, wherein said material that promotes bone tissue growth includes a first material and a second material, said openings in said first region of said container allowing the release of said second material while preventing the release of said first material.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein said container allows the release of part of said material that promotes bone tissue growth.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein said second region of said container prevents ingrowth of epithelial tissue.

20. The method of claim 1, wherein said container being connected to a filling conduit.
