selectively amplifying non-Lactobacillus (LB) species DNA in the sample by amplifying total bacterial DNA while specifically blocking amplification of bacterial DNA from LB species,wherein the relative abundance of non-LB species is indicative of the presence of BV.

18. A kit for assessing health of a vaginal microbiome comprising:
