1. An information processing apparatus comprising:
- a reception unit that receives a signal from an access point;
a first storage unit that stores master data of place specifying data including identification information of the access point detected from the signal received by the reception unit in each place and including strength of the received signal;
a first processor that accesses the first storage unit;
a second storage unit that stores place specifying data of a partial area extracted by the first processor from the place specifying data in the first storage unit;
a third storage unit that stores the identification information of the access point detected in a place around a place specified by the place specifying data of the extracted partial area; and
a second processor that accesses the second storage unit and the third storage unit, whereinthe second processor executes;
a process of specifying the place by the place specifying data of the partial area stored in the second storage unit based on the signal received by the reception unit, anda process of updating the place specifying data of the partial area stored in the second storage unit and the identification information of the access point stored in the third storage unit through the first processor when the identification information of the access point detected from the signal received by the reception unit is stored in the third storage unit.
