Abstract

In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method executable by a server system to store data in a data cache and refresh the data based on a dynamic schedule is provided. The method includes: receiving, by a processor, data from a first resource; storing, by the processor, the data in a data cache; determining, by the processor, a type of the data, and an access frequency of the data; determining, by the processor, a dynamic schedule based on the type of the data, and the access frequency of the data; and refreshing the data cache with new data from the first resource based on the dynamic schedule.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method executable by a server system to store data in a data cache, the method comprising:

receiving, by a processor, data from a first resource;

storing, by the processor, the data in the data cache;

determining, by the processor, a type of the data, and an access frequency of the data;

determining, by the processor, a dynamic schedule based on the type of the data, and the access frequency of the data; and

refreshing the data cache with new data from the first resource based on the dynamic schedule.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining the type of the data is based on at least one of the data itself, the first resource the data is from, and a behavior of the data.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining the access frequency of the data is based on a request for data from a first user.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the determining the access frequency of the data is further based on a request for data from a second user.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a group identifier and an item identifier based on the type of the data, and wherein the determining the dynamic schedule is based on the group identifier and the item identifier.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the dynamic schedule has different refresh times associated with different group identifiers.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the dynamic schedule has different refresh times associated with at least two different item identifiers.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the dynamic schedule has different refresh times associated with at least two different item identifiers having a same group identifier.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining, by the processor, an age associated with the stored data, and wherein the determining the dynamic schedule is based on the age.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the age is an access age that is based on a current time and a time last accessed.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising receiving a request to access cached data, and determining the time last accessed based on the request to access cached data.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the age is determined for on an item of a group.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the dynamic schedule includes a list of items to be refreshed and a list of groups to be refreshed.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the list of items to be refreshed includes multiple tiers.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein each tier of the multiple tiers is associated with a different refresh time or a different range of refresh times.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising determining a tier of the multiple tiers for listing an item based on at an access time.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising determining a tier of the multiple tiers for listing an item based on at an access age.

18. The method of claim 15, further comprising removing an item from the list of items based on an access age.

19. A computer program product for caching data in a data cache, comprising:

a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method comprising;

receiving, by a processor, data from a first resource;

storing, by the processor, the data in the data cache;

determining, by the processor, a type of the data, and an access frequency of the data;

determining, by the processor, a dynamic schedule based on the type of the data, and the access frequency of the data; and

refreshing the data cache with new data from the first resource based on the dynamic schedule.

20. A multi-tenant server system for caching data in a data cache, comprising:

a data cache that stores data; and

a server system that receives data from a first resource, that stores the data in the data cache, that determines a type of the data, and an access frequency of the data, that determines a dynamic schedule based on the type of the data, and the access frequency of the data, and that refreshes the data cache with new data from the first resource based on the dynamic schedule.
