1. A method for operating a ventilation and a cooling system to vent outside air within a structure, the method comprising:
- monitoring an interior temperature of the structure;
monitoring an exterior temperature of ambient air outside of the structure;
defining a first time range and a second time range, wherein the second time range comprises a duration less than the first time range;
associating one or more operating parameters of the ventilation and cooling system with the first time range;
associating one or more operating parameters of the ventilation and cooling system with the second time range;
monitoring operational time and operational load of the cooling system for the first time range; and
controlling the ventilation system during the second time range based upon the monitored operational time and operational load of the cooling system for the first time range, the monitored interior and exterior temperatures, and the one or more operating parameters of the cooling system associated with the second time range.

A system and method for operating an HVAC system having a cooling system and ventilation system to vent outside air within a structure is disclosed. The method includes monitoring an interior temperature of the structure, monitoring an exterior temperature of ambient air outside of the structure, defining a first time range and a second time range, associating one or more operating parameters of the HVAC system with the first time range, associating one or more operating parameters of the HVAC system with the second time range, monitoring operational time and operational load of the cooling system for the first time range, and controlling the ventilation system during the second time range based upon the monitored operational time and operational load of the cooling system in the first time range, and the monitored interior and exterior temperatures.

20. An HVAC system for conditioning air of a structure comprising:

an interior temperature sensor; an exterior temperature sensor for measuring ambient air outside of the structure; a ventilation system having at least one damper; a cooling system; a controller operatively connected to the interior temperature sensor, the exterior temperature sensor, and the ventilation system, the controller operating the HVAC system in at least a first operating mode associated with a first time range and a second operating mode associated with a second time range, the controller is configured to monitor the power consuming functions of the HVAC system; wherein the controller is configured to receive one or more operating parameters of the HVAC system associated with the first time range; wherein the controller is configured to receive one or more operating parameters of the HVAC system associated with the second time range; wherein the controller is configured to monitor operational time and operational load of the cooling system for the first time range; and wherein the controller is configured to control the ventilation system during the second time range based upon the monitored operational time and operational load of the cooling system in the first time range, the monitored interior and exterior temperatures, and the one or more operating parameters of the cooling system associated with the second time range. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23)
