Abstract

One or more files associated with a user are scanned. Metadata corresponding to the one or more files is determined. One or more categories based on the one or more files is determined, wherein the one or more categories is associated with the user. One or more categories are modified based on the metadata corresponding to the one or more files.

Claims

1. A method for determining connections for users of social media, the method comprising the steps of:

scanning, by a computer processor, one or more files associated with a user;

determining, by a computer processor, metadata corresponding to the one or more files;

determining, by a computer processor, one or more categories based on the one or more files, wherein the one or more categories is associated with the user; and

modifying, by a computer processor, the one or more categories based on the metadata corresponding to the one or more files.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by a computer processor, a candidate with one or more associated categories the same as at least one modified category of the one or more categories modified associated with the user; and

responsive to determining the candidate with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user, initiating to notify, by a computer processor, the user of the candidate.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein metadata comprises at least one of:

last access time of the one or more files, last modification time of the one or more files, user who last modified the one or more files, frequency of access of the one or more files, location of the one or more files in a file system, the location of the one or more files in a file directory, the parent directory names of the one or more files, relation of the user to the one or more files, and data provenance of the one or more files.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the user'"'"'s files comprise at least one of:

file systems, documents, audio, video, images, bookmarks, favorites, blogs, microblogs, wikis, social data, cloud data, and cloud connections.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the user'"'"'s files are located on at least one of:

computer readable storage media and remote computer readable storage media.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, by a computer processor, a plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user;

ranking, by a computer processor, the plurality of candidates wherein the plurality of candidates with more associated categories the same as the one or more categories associated with the user are ranked higher; and

responsive to determining the plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user and ranking, initiating to notify, by the computer processor, the user of the ranked plurality of candidates.

7. A computer program product for determining connections for users of social media, the computer program product comprising:

one or more computer readable storage media; and

program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, the program instructions comprising;

program instructions to scan one or more files associated with a user;

program instructions to determine metadata corresponding to the one or more files;

program instructions to determine one or more categories based on the one or more files, wherein the one or more categories is associated with the user; and

program instructions to modify the one or more categories based on the metadata corresponding to the one or more files.

8. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, to:

determine a candidate with one or more associated categories the same as at least one modified category of the one or more categories modified associated with the user; and

responsive to determining the candidate with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user, initiate to notify the user of the candidate.

9. The computer program product of claim 7, wherein metadata comprises at least one of:

last access time of the one or more files, last modification time of the one or more files, user who last modified the one or more files, frequency of access of the one or more files, location of the one or more files in a file system, the location of the one or more files in a file directions, the parent directory names of the one or more files, relation of the user to the one or more files, and data provenance of the one or more files.

10. The computer program product of claim 7, wherein the user'"'"'s files comprise at least one of:

file systems, documents, audio, video, images, bookmarks, favorites, blogs, microblogs, wikis, social data, cloud data, and cloud connections.

11. The computer program product of claim 7, wherein the user'"'"'s files are located on at least one of:

computer readable storage media and remote computer readable storage media.

12. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, to:

determine a plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user;

rank the plurality of candidates wherein the plurality of candidates with more associated categories the same as the one or more categories associated with the user are ranked higher; and

responsive to determining the plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user and ranking, initiate to notify the user of the ranked plurality of candidates.

13. A computer system for determining connections for users of social media, the computer system comprising:

one or more computer processors;

one or more computer readable storage media; and

program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more computer processors, the program instructions comprising;

program instructions to scan one or more files associated with a user;

program instructions to determine metadata corresponding to the one or more files;

program instructions to determine one or more categories based on the one or more files, wherein the one or more categories is associated with the user; and

program instructions to modify the one or more categories based on the metadata corresponding to the one or more files.

14. A computer system of claim 13, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by the at least one of the one or more computer processors, to:

determine a candidate with one or more associated categories the same as at least one modified category of the one or more categories modified associated with the user; and

responsive to determining the candidate with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user, initiate to notify the user of the candidate.

15. A computer system of claim 13, wherein metadata comprises at least one of:

last access time of the one or more files, last modification time of the one or more files, user who last modified the one or more files, frequency of access of the one or more files, location of the one or more files in a file system, the location of the one or more files in a file directory, the parent directory names of the one or more files, relation of the user to the one or more files, and data provenance of the one or more files.

16. A computer system of claim 13, wherein the user'"'"'s files comprise at least one of:

file systems, documents, audio, video, images, bookmarks, favorites, blogs, microblogs, wikis, social data, cloud data, and cloud connections.

17. A computer system of claim 13, wherein the user'"'"'s files are located on at least one of:

computer readable storage media and remote computer readable storage media.

18. A computer system of claim 13, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media for execution by the at least one of the one or more computer processors, to:

determine a plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user;

rank the plurality of candidates wherein the plurality of candidates with more associated categories the same as the one or more categories associated with the user are ranked higher; and

responsive to determining the plurality of candidates with one or more associated categories the same as one category of the one or more categories associated with the user and ranking, initiate to notify the user of the ranked plurality of candidates.
