Abstract

A mobile computing device includes a processor, a display coupled to the processor, a memory coupled to the processor and configured to store user-specific data, and a location-determining circuit configured to determine the location of the portable electronic device. The processor is configured to provide advertisement data on the display based upon the location of the portable electronic device and the user-specific data.

Claims

1. A mobile computing device comprising:

a display;

a location-determining circuit configured to determine a current location of the mobile computing device; and

a processor coupled to the display and the location-determining circuit, the processor configured to;

retrieve social media data associated with a user'"'"'s social networking account; and

present, on the display, one or more advertisements based, at least in part, on the current location of the mobile computing device and the social media data.

2. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to obtain the social media data from a social networking website.

3. The mobile computing device of claim 2, wherein the social networking website is associated with the user'"'"'s social networking account.

4. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive a number of advertisements from one or more advertisement services; and

filter the number of advertisements based, at least in part, on personal preference data of the user.

5. The mobile computing device of claim 4, wherein the personal preference data indicates a number of advertisements to be presented on the display within a time period.

6. The mobile computing device of claim 4, wherein the personal preference data indicates a type of advertisement to be presented on the display.

7. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an electronic coupon.

8. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an audible message.

9. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises a map indicating a location of an associated establishment.

10. The mobile computing device of claim 1, wherein the social media data comprises location information.

11. The mobile computing device of claim 10, wherein the presentation of the one or more advertisements on the display is further based on the location information.

12. A method of operating a mobile computing device, the method comprising:

determining a current location of the mobile computing device;

retrieving social media data associated with a user'"'"'s social networking account; and

presenting, on a display of the mobile computing device, one or more advertisements based, at least in part, on the current location of the mobile computing device and the social media data.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the retrieving comprises obtaining the social media data from a social networking website.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the social networking website is associated with the user'"'"'s social networking account.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

receiving a number of advertisements from one or more advertisement services; and

filtering the number of advertisements based, at least in part, on personal preference data of the user.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the personal preference data indicates a number of advertisements to be presented on the display within a time period.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the personal preference data indicates a type of advertisement to be presented on the display.

18. The method of claim 12, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an electronic coupon.

19. The method of claim 12, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an audible message.

20. The method of claim 12, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises a map indicating a location of an associated establishment.

21. The method of claim 12, wherein the social media data comprises location information.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the presentation of the one or more advertisements on the display is further based on the location information.

23. A mobile computing device comprising:

means for determining a current location of the mobile computing device;

means for retrieving social media data associated with a user'"'"'s social networking account; and

means for presenting, on a display of the mobile computing device, one or more advertisements based, at least in part, on the current location of the mobile computing device and the social media data.

24. The mobile computing device of claim 23, wherein the means for retrieving is to obtain the social media data from a social networking website.

25. The mobile computing device of claim 24, wherein the social networking website is associated with the user'"'"'s social networking account.

26. The mobile computing device of claim 23, further comprising:

means for receiving a number of advertisements from one or more advertisement services; and

means for filtering the number of advertisements based, at least in part, on personal preference data of the user.

27. The mobile computing device of claim 26, wherein the personal preference data indicates a number of advertisements to be presented on the display within a time period.

28. The mobile computing device of claim 26, wherein the personal preference data indicates a type of advertisement to be presented on the display.

29. The mobile computing device of claim 23, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an electronic coupon.

30. The mobile computing device of claim 23, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises an audible message.

31. The mobile computing device of claim 23, wherein at least one of the presented advertisements comprises a map indicating a location of an associated establishment.

32. The mobile computing device of claim 23, wherein the social media data comprises location information.

33. The mobile computing device of claim 32, wherein the presentation of the one or more advertisements on the display is further based on the location information.
