Abstract

A method for managing network access is provided. The method includes determining whether there is a network connection request from at least one application, checking at least one attribute information item of the application, determining an access point name (APN) corresponding to the application based on the at least one attribute information item, and transmitting and receiving data of the application to/from a network using the determined APN.

Claims

1. A method for managing network access, the method comprising:

determining whether there is a network connection request from at least one application;

checking at least one attribute information item of the application;

determining an access point name (APN) corresponding to the application based on the at least one attribute information item; and

transmitting and receiving data of the application to/from a network using the determined APN.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one attribute information item of the application comprises information about at least one of an identifier (ID) of the application, a user ID, a security level, use/nonuse of a virtual private network (VPN), and a data usage.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

storing a mapping table in which at least one attribute information item is mapped to each of a plurality of applications.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the mapping table further comprises APN information that is mapped to each of the plurality of applications.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the determining of the APN corresponding to the application comprises determining an APN corresponding to the application referring to the mapping table.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining of the APN corresponding to the application comprises:

determining a group to which the application belongs, based on the at least one attribute information item; and

determining an APN corresponding to the group.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting and receiving of the data of the application comprises:

if it is determined based on the at least one attribute information item that the application is a first application group, transmitting and receiving first billing target data to/from a network using the determined APN.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting and receiving of the data of the application comprises:

if it is determined based on the at least one attribute information item that the application is a second application group, transmitting and receiving second billing target data to/from a network using the determined APN.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the data of the application is transmitted and received through a packet data network gateway (PGW) corresponding to the determined APN.

10. An electronic device for managing network access, the electronic device comprising:

a processor configured to, upon a network connection request from at least one application, check at least one attribute information item of the application, and determine an access point name (APN) corresponding to the application based on the at least one attribute information item; and

a communication unit configured to transmit and receive data of the application to/from a network using the determined APN.

11. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the at least one attribute information item of the application comprises information about at least one of an identifier (ID) of the application, a user ID, a security level, use/nonuse of a virtual private network (VPN), and a data usage.

12. The electronic device of claim 10, further comprising:

a memory configured to store a mapping table in which at least one attribute information item is mapped to each of a plurality of applications.

13. The electronic device of claim 12, wherein the mapping table further comprises APN information that is mapped to each of the plurality of applications.

14. The electronic device of claim 12, wherein the processor determines an APN corresponding to the application referring to the mapping table.

15. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the processor determines a group to which the application belongs, based on the at least one attribute information item, and determines an APN corresponding to the group.

16. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein, if it is determined based on the at least one attribute information item that the application is a first application group, the processor transmits and receives first billing target data to/from a network using the determined APN.

17. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein, if it is determined based on the at least one attribute information item that the application is a second application group, the processor transmits and receives second billing target data to/from a network using the determined APN.

18. The electronic device of claim 10, wherein the data of the application is transmitted and received through a packet data network gateway (PGW) corresponding to the determined APN.
