Abstract

A wind direction indicator for hunters includes a smoke generator, a housing, an electrical power source, an air pump and a switch all arranged such that the indicator may be actuated by a hunter using a single hand. The smoke generator may be a cartomizer as an example.

Claims

1. A wind direction indicator comprising;

a) a housing including a top, a bottom, and two sides and a front and rear portion,

b) a smoke generator, the smoke generator including a heating element and an internal air passageway,

c) an air pump having an outlet connected to the air passageway, and

d) a switch connected to the heating element for energizing the heating element from a power source.

The wind direction indicator of claim 1 wherein the housing includes an inclined portion between the top and a first side portion, the switch being mounted on the inclined portion, and the air pump being mounted on a second side portion, whereby the wind indicator may be actuated by a user'"'"'s thumb and trigger finger.

3. The wind direction indicator of claim 1 further including a pocket positioned within the housing, the smoke generator being removably secured in the pocket.

4. The wind direction indicator of claim 1 further including a light mounted on the top of the housing for illuminating the smoke as it is generated.

5. The wind direction indicator of claim 3 further including a cutout provided on the front portion of the housing for viewing a level of a liquid contained within the smoke generator.

6. The wind direction indicator of claim 1 wherein the smoke generator further includes a fibrous mass and a liquid impregnated within the fibrous mass.

7. The wind direction indicator of claim 1 further including a battery connected between the switch and the heating element.
