1. A mobile communication system comprising:

  • a plurality of base stations, a relay station associated with the plurality of base stations, and a plurality of mobile stations associated with the plurality of base stations, wherein, in a first relaying mode, each base station is configured to transmit data to be forwarded to at least one associated mobile station of the plurality of mobile stations to the relay station using first communication resources, wherein the first communication resources for all base stations of the plurality of base stations are identical and wherein, in the first relaying mode, the relay node is to transmit data to the plurality of mobile stations using second communication resources, wherein the second communication resources for all mobile stations of the plurality of mobile stations are identical;

    a determiner to determine, for each mobile station, the distance between the mobile station and at least one of the base stations or between the mobile station and the relay station;

    a decider to decide, for each mobile station, whether data transmission between the at least one base station and the mobile station is carried out in the first relaying mode or in a second relaying mode based on the determined distance; and

    a controller to control the mobile communication system based on the result of the decision by the decider.
