Abstract

Apparatus and method relating to wireless communication access points are described. In one embodiment an apparatus including one or more antennas to function as an access point for wireless communication is described. In some cases the apparatus or methods may include determining location information and/or one or more operating characteristics of one or more wireless communication access points.

Claims

1. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

one or more antennas to function as a first wireless communication access point;

a chassis that supports at least one of the one or more antennas;

a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver mounted to the chassis to determine a location of at least one of the one or more antennas;

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor; and

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable by the processor to;

determine location information of the first wireless communication access point; and

determine one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

receive at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points,

wherein the first wireless communication access point and the one or more wireless communication access points are different.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

correlate the location information of the first wireless communication access point with at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points.

4. The apparatus of claim 3,

wherein at least one of the one or more antennas receive the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points and the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points, and

wherein the memory stores the location information and the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points.

5. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising:

a plurality of light emitting diodes to illuminate based at least in part on correlating the location information of the first wireless communication access point with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points.

6. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising:

a plurality of light emitting diodes to illuminate based at least in part on correlating the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points.

7. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising:

a plurality of light emitting diodes to illuminate based at least in part on correlating the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

correlate the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points;

and

adjust at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

determine the location information of the first wireless communication access point at one or more locations;

and

determine the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point at the one or more locations.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

adjust at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point based at least in part on determining at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point at the one or more locations and one or more operating characteristics of one or more wireless communication access points.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

correlate the location information of the first wireless communication access point at the one or more locations with location information of the one or more wireless communication access points at one or more locations;

and

correlate the operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point at the one or more locations with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points at the one or more locations.

12. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points include at least one of a signal strength, a signal frequency, a signal sensitivity, or a combination thereof.

The apparatus of claim 3, wherein correlating the location information of the first wireless communication access point with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points comprises using the location information of the first wireless communication access point and the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points to determine a proximity value.

14. The apparatus of claim 3, the instructions stored in the memory further being executable by the processor to

correlate the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein correlating the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points comprises using the operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point and the operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points to determine an interference value.

16. A method for adjusting a radio-frequency signal comprising:

determining location information of a first wireless communication access point at a first location;

determining one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point at the first location;

receiving at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points; and

correlating the location information of the first wireless communication access point with at least one of the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points and the operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points,

wherein the first wireless communication access point and the one or more wireless communication access points are different.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising adjusting at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point based at least in part on correlating the location information of the first wireless communication access point with at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and operating characteristics of one or more wireless communication access points.

18. The method of claim 16, further comprising moving the first wireless communication access point to a second location different from the first location based at least in part on at least one of

correlating the location information of the first wireless communication access point at the first location with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points and

correlating the operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point at the first location with the operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

determine location information of a first wireless communication access point;

determine one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point;

receive at least one of location information of one or more wireless communication access points and one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points;

correlate the location information of the first wireless communication access point with the location information of the one or more wireless communication access points;

correlate the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point with the one or more operating characteristics of the one or more wireless communication access points; and

adjust at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point,

wherein the first wireless communication access point and the one or more wireless communication access points are different.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 19, wherein adjusting at least one of the one or more operating characteristics of the first wireless communication access point comprises reducing interference between the first wireless communication access point and the one or more wireless communication access points.
