First Claim
1. An apparatus, comprising:
- at least one memory; and
logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware coupled to the at least one memory, the logic to;
determine first and second transmission times for transmission, from user equipment (UE), of messages of a mobile data application;
receive one or more messages of the mobile data application during a time interval between the first and second transmission times;
store the one or more messages; and

Abstract
An apparatus may comprise a radio-frequency (RF) transceiver and a message aggregation module arranged to intercept multiple messages from one or more mobile data applications during an idle mode of a device, one or more of the multiple messages operable to trigger a transition of the device from the idle mode to a connected mode by causing a radio resource control message to be sent from the device to a radio access network, the message aggregation module to store the multiple messages in a buffer associated with the one or more mobile data applications in order to maintain the device in the idle mode, and schedule for transmission by the RF transceiver the stored messages at a defined time instance based on a delay tolerance for the one or more mobile data applications when the device is in the connected mode. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

8. At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising a set of instructions that, in response to being executed at a packet data network (PDN) node, cause the PDN node to:
-
identify a time interval between first and second transmission times for transmission of messages of a first message type; aggregate multiple messages of the first message type during the time interval; and delay transmission of the multiple messages of the first message type until the second transmission time to reduce overhead associated with transmission of the multiple messages of the first message type. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

-
identify a time interval for aggregating messages of a first message type; aggregate multiple messages of the first message type during the time interval; and transmit the aggregated messages of the first message type following the time interval. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
