Abstract

A system is provided. The system includes a content database that stores content synchronization data received from a graphical user interface. The content synchronization data has a location of media, a set of content, a content start time, and a content end time. The content start time is a time in the media at which play of the content is to start. The content end time is a time in the media at which the play of the content is to end.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a content database that stores content synchronization data received from a graphical user interface, the content synchronization data having a location of media, a set of content, a content start time, and a content end time, the content start time being a time in the media at which play of the content is to start, the content end time being a time in the media at which the play of the content is to end;

a processor that automatically generates a manifest for synchronizing the play of the content with play of the media according to an Application Programming Interface.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the location of the media is a link to a server that is distinct from the system.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the play of the media is performed by the server during the play of the content being performed by the processor.

4. The system of claim 2, wherein the manifest is based upon human readable code that communicates between a server and a web application.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein a media player requests the manifest.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the media player automatically generates code for providing a synchronized playback based upon the manifest.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the graphical user interface provides a visual timeline slider that is slid to different times in the media.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the content start time and the content end time are received based upon inputs received from the visual timeline slider.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the content is selected from the group consisting of a link to a website to purchase an item;

text, a question for a user, and a picture.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein a media player displays the content in proximity to the media based upon synchronization provided by the content synchronization data.

11. A computer program product comprising a computer useable medium having a computer readable program, wherein the computer readable program when executed on a computer causes the computer to:

store, at a content database, content synchronization data received from a graphical user interface, the content synchronization data having a location of media, a set of content, a content start time, and a content end time, the content start time being a time in the media at which play of the content is to start, the content end time being a time in the media at which the play of the content is to end;

automatically generate, with a processor, a manifest for synchronizing the play of the content with play of the media according to an Application Programming Interface.

12. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the location of the video is a link to a server that is distinct from the system.

13. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the play of the video is performed by the server during the play of the content being performed by the processor.

14. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein the manifest is based upon human readable code that communicates between a server and a web application.

15. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein a media player requests the manifest.

16. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the media player automatically generates code for providing a synchronized playback based upon the manifest.

17. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the graphical user interface provides a visual timeline slider that is slid to different times in the video.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the content start time and the content end time are received based upon inputs received from the visual timeline slider.

19. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein the content is selected from the group consisting of a link to a website to purchase an item;

text, a question for a user, and a picture.

20. The computer program product of claim 11, wherein a media player displays the content in proximity to the media based upon synchronization provided by the content synchronization data.
