Abstract

A communication apparatus includes a designation unit configured to designate a connection-destination communication apparatus, a determination unit configured to determine, based on whether identification information about the connection-destination communication apparatus designated by the designation unit is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol, and an execution unit configured to execute the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing.

Claims

1. A communication apparatus comprising:

a designation unit configured to designate a connection-destination communication apparatus;

a determination unit configured to determine, based on whether identification information about the connection-destination communication apparatus designated by the designation unit is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol;

an execution unit configured to execute the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing, or transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a communication possibility determination unit configured to determine, according to a result of the protocol switching processing executed by the execution unit, whether communication based on the second communication protocol is possible.

The communication apparatus according to claim 2, further comprising a communication starting unit configured to start communication based on the first communication protocol in a case where the communication possibility determination unit determines that communication based on the second communication protocol is not possible.

The communication apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising an applying unit configured to apply setting information about the second communication protocol in a case where a connection start response in response to the connection start request is received from the connection-destination communication apparatus.

8. The communication apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein the first communication protocol is the Hypertext Transfer Protocol version 1.1 (HTTP/1.1), and

wherein the second communication protocol is HTTP/2.

5. A communication apparatus comprising:

a reception unit configured to receive a connection start request based on a second communication protocol from a connection-request-source communication apparatus;

a determination unit configured to determine, based on whether identification information about the connection-request-source communication apparatus that has transmitted the connection start request based on the second communication protocol received by the reception unit is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to the second communication protocol;

an execution unit configured to execute the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing, and transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.

The communication apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising an applying unit configured to apply, in the case where the determination unit determines to skip the protocol switching processing, setting information, which corresponds to the identification information, about the second communication protocol.

7. The communication apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the setting information includes information about a SETTINGS frame defined in the Hypertext Transfer Protocol version 2 (HTTP/2) or information about a header compression dictionary.

9. A communication system including a first communication apparatus and a second communication apparatus,

the first communication apparatus comprising:

a designation unit configured to designate a connection-destination communication apparatus;

a determination unit configured to determine, based on whether identification information about the second communication apparatus designated as the connection-destination communication apparatus by the designation unit is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol;

an execution unit configured to execute the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the second communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing, and transmit, in a case where the determination unit determines not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the second communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed, and

the second communication apparatus comprising;

a second determination unit configured to determine, when the second communication apparatus receives the connection start request from the first communication apparatus, whether to skip the protocol switching processing for switching from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol based on whether identification information about the first communication apparatus is registered; and

a second transmission unit configured to transmit, in a case where the second determination unit determines to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the first communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing.

10. An information processing method comprising:

determining, based on whether identification information about a connection-destination communication apparatus designated as a connection destination is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol;

executing the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing;

transmitting, in a case where it is determined to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing; and

transmitting, in the case where it is determine not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.

11. An information processing method comprising:

receiving a connection start request based on a second communication protocol from a connection-request-source communication apparatus;

determining, based on whether identification information about the connection-request-source communication apparatus that has transmitted the connection start request is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to the second communication protocol;

executing the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing;

transmitting, in a case where it is determined to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus without execution of the protocol switching processing; and

transmitting, in the case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.

12. A computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute an information processing method, the information processing method comprising:

determining, based on whether identification information about a connection-destination communication apparatus designated as a connection destination is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol;

executing the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing;

transmitting, in a case where it is determined to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus without executing the protocol switching processing; and

transmitting, in the case where it is determine not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start request based on the second communication protocol to the connection-destination communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.

13. A computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute an information processing method, the information processing method comprising:

receiving a connection start request based on a second communication protocol from a connection-request-source communication apparatus;

determining, based on whether identification information about the connection-request-source communication apparatus that has transmitted the connection start request is registered, whether to skip protocol switching processing for switching from a first communication protocol to the second communication protocol;

executing the protocol switching processing to switch from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol in a case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing;

transmitting, in a case where it is determined to skip the protocol switching processing, a connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus without execution of the protocol switching processing; and

transmitting, in the case where it is determined not to skip the protocol switching processing, the connection start response based on the second communication protocol to the connection-request-source communication apparatus after the protocol switching processing is executed.
