1. A method comprising:
- translating at least one control strategy associated with a first controller into an equivalent translated control strategy compatible with a second controller, wherein the first and second controllers represent controllers in an industrial process control and automation system;
selecting one or more spare locations on the second controller to configure one or more corresponding points;
loading the at least one translated control strategy into a control environment associated with the second controller; and
moving a slot configuration of each of the one or more points from the first controller to the second controller.
