Abstract

A cable connector assembly (100) comprises an insulative housing having a receiving space (18) extending along a front-to-back direction, and a printed circuit board module (2) received in the receiving space of the insulative housing. The printed circuit board module defines a protruded ridge (24) offset to one side thereof, the protruded ridge extending along a vertical direction, and a groove (185) is defined in the receiving space for accommodating the protruded ridge.

Claims

1. A cable connector assembly comprising:

an insulative housing having a receiving space extending along a front-to-back direction; and

a printed circuit board module received in the receiving space of the insulative housing;

wherein

the printed circuit board module defines a protruded ridge offset to one side thereof, the protruded ridge extending along a vertical direction; and

a groove is defined in the receiving space to accommodate the protruded ridge.

2. The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the protruded ridge extends along the front-to-back direction.

The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the printed circuit board module comprises a printed circuit board having an upper surface and a lower surface opposite to each other, and the protruded ridge is defined on one of the upper surface and the lower surface of the printed circuit board.

4. The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 3, further comprising a plurality of wires connected with the printed circuit board and an insulator molded on a junction between the printed circuit board and the wires.

The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 4, wherein the insulator comprises a rear section molded on a conjunction area between the printed circuit board and the wires and a front section extending forwards from the rear section, and the protruded ridge extends upwards from a top surface of the front section.

The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the printed circuit board module comprises a printed circuit board having an upper surface and a lower surface opposite to each other, and there are a plurality of protruded ridges asymmetrically defined on both of the upper surface and the lower surface.

The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein the number of the protruded ridges on the upper surface is same as the number of the protruded ridges on the lower surface, the protruded ridges on a same printed circuit board are located on both sides of a longitudinal central axis of the printed circuit board and stagger with each other, and at least one pair of protruded ridges on both sides of the longitudinal central axis are differently distanced from the longitudinal central axis.

8. The cable connector assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein the number of the protruded ridges on the upper surface is different from the number of the protruded ridges on the lower surface.

9. An electrical connector assembly comprising:

an insulative housing defining a partition to form therein a front receiving space and a rear receiving space separated by said partition in a front-to-back direction; and

a printed circuit board (PCB) module including a PCB and an insulator secured on the PCB;

wherein

the PCB extends through the partition into the front receiving space, and the insulator is retained in the rear receiving space.

The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 9, wherein the partition includes a front vertical plate section and a rear shoulder section, and the insulator includes a rear main section and a front step section, and the rear shoulder section and the rear step section confront each other in a vertical direction in a vertical direction perpendicular to said front-to-back direction.

11. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein the rear shoulder section of the partition and the front step section of the insulator confront each other along the front-to-back direction.

12. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein a protrusion is formed on the front step section of the insulator, and a groove is formed in the rear shoulder section to receive said front step section therein.

13. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 12, wherein said protrusion extends beyond the front step section in the vertical direction, and said groove is recessed into the rear shoulder section in the vertical direction.

14. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein said rear main body of the insulator forwardly confronts the rear shoulder section of the partition in the front-to-back direction.

15. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 9, wherein a securing member extending through the partition and the PCB in a vertical direction perpendicular to said front-to-back direction.

16. An electrical connector assembly comprising:

an insulative housing defining a partition to form therein a front receiving space and a rear receiving space separated by said partition in a front-to-back direction;

a groove formed in the partition;

a printed circuit board (PCB) module extending through the partition and including a PCB disposed in the front receiving space, and an insulator secured on the PCB; and

a protrusion formed on the insulator;

wherein

the protrusion is received in the groove.

17. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 16, wherein said protrusion and said groove extend in a vertical direction perpendicular to said front-to-back direction.

18. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 16, wherein a securing member extends through said partition and said PCB module in a vertical direction perpendicular to said front-to-back direction.

19. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 16, wherein said insulator intimately confronts the partition in the front-to-back direction.

20. The electrical connector assembly as claimed in claim 16, wherein said protrusion is symmetrical with regard to the PCB in the vertical direction.
