Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and systems for a head-worn computer with a content display where the head-worn computer can be changed from an augmented reality system where there is relatively high see-through transmission through the display to a virtual reality system where the is no or relatively little see-through transmission through the display.

Claims

1. A stray light suppression system, comprising:

a. a shroud mechanically adapted to be removably and replaceably mounted to a see-through display system adapted to be worn on the head of a user;

b. the shroud further adapted to, when mounted on the see-through display system, suppress light emitted from the see-through display system and suppress surrounding environment light from entering sides of the see-through display system; and

c. the shroud further comprising a peripheral lighting effects system.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the shroud is adapted to removably and replaceably mount to the see-through display with a magnet.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the shroud is adapted to removably and replaceably mount to the see-through display with a mechanical attachment.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the shroud is adapted to removably and replaceably mount to the see-through display and at least in part be held in place by arms attached to the see-through display, where in the arms are adapted to hold the platform on the user'"'"'s head.

The system of claim 1, wherein the light suppression system further includes an outer lens, wherein the outer lens has a see-through transparency of between 2% and 5% to create an immersive environment for the user while creating a transparency that maintains a visual connection for the user to the surrounding environment.

The system of claim 1, wherein the light suppression system further includes an outer lens, wherein the outer lens has a see-through transparency of between 5% and 10% to create an immersive environment for the user while creating a transparency that maintains a visual connection for the user to the surrounding environment.

The system of claim 1, wherein the light suppression system further includes an outer lens, wherein the outer lens has a see-through transparency of between 10% and 20% to create an immersive environment for the user while creating a transparency that maintains a visual connection for the user to the surrounding environment.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the light suppression system further includes an outer lens, wherein the outer lens has a see-through transparency of greater than 20%.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the light suppression system further includes an outer lens, wherein the outer lens has a low transparency in an area behind a field of view presented to the eye of the user and a higher transparency outside of the area behind the field of view.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the shroud has an area of transparency to provide the user with a perspective of the surrounding environment.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the transparency is a partial transparency.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the shroud further includes a tactile effects system adapted to effect tactile effects in coordination with content presented in a field of view.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the tactile effects system includes a piezo vibratory system

14. The system of claim 13 where in the piezo vibratory system is positioned on a side of the eye cover.

15. The system of claim 13, where in the piezo vibratory system is positioned on top of the eye cover.

16. The system of claim 13 where in the piezo vibratory system is positioned on bottom of the eye cover.

17. The system of claim 1, further comprising a data connection adapted to connect the shroud and the see-through display.

18. The system of claim 1, wherein the data connection is established through an attachment system that mechanically connects the shroud to the see-through display.

19. The system of claim 1, wherein the data connection is a wireless data connection.

20. The system of claim 1, wherein the peripheral light effects system produces lighting effects with LEDs or OLEDs.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the lighting effects are colored lighting effects.

22. The system of claim 1, wherein the peripheral lighting effects system includes a light source substantially surrounding the inside cavity for controlled placement of the effect lighting direction.
