Abstract

Intelligent traffic routing may be utilized to route packets of information to one or more radio access technologies and/or cells/access points based on network and/or UE conditions. Packet routes dynamically may be adjusted based on the best radio technology, cell layer, service provider specified criteria, or the like. In an example configuration, intelligent traffic routing may be SDN based utilize a simple Internet protocol.

Claims

1. A apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising;

determining device conditions pertaining to a device;

determining network conditions pertaining to a network; and

based on the device conditions and the network conditions, determining a network entity with which the device is to communicate with the network, wherein communications between the device and the network utilize an address based on the device and the network entity.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, the device conditions comprising at least one of:

a profile associated with the device;

an application associated with the device;

or

a mobility status of the device.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, the network conditions comprising at least one of:

a radio access technology associated with the network entity;

a cell type associated with the network entity;

or

a load on the network.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, the address comprising:

a prefix indicative of the network entity; and

a suffix indicative of the device.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, the operations further comprising:

providing an indication of the prefix, wherein an intended recipient of the indication of the prefix is the device.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, the device conditions comprising a mobility status of the device, the mobility status comprising one of mobile or stationary.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, network conditions comprising radio access technology associated with the network entity, the radio access technology comprising at least one of a cellular network type or an access point.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1, the device conditions comprising at least one of:

a profile associated with the device;

an application associated with the device;

or

a mobility status of the device.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1, the network conditions comprising at least one of:

a radio access technology associated with the network entity;

a cell type associated with the network entity;

or

a load on the network.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1, the address comprising:

a prefix indicative of the network entity; and

a suffix indicative of the device.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1, the device conditions comprising a mobility status of the device, the mobility status comprising one of mobile or stationary.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 1, network conditions comprising radio access technology associated with the network entity, the radio access technology comprising at least one of a cellular network type or an access point.

8. A method comprising:

determining device conditions pertaining to a device;

determining network conditions pertaining to a network; and

based on the device conditions and the network conditions, determining a network entity with which the device is to communicate with the network, wherein communications between the device and the network utilize an address based on the device and the network entity.

9. The method of claim 8, the device conditions comprising at least one of:

a profile associated with the device;

an application associated with the device;

or

a mobility status of the device.

10. The method of claim 8, the network conditions comprising at least one of:

a radio access technology associated with the network entity;

a cell type associated with the network entity;

or

a load on the network.

11. The method of claim 8, the address comprising:

a prefix indicative of the network entity; and

a suffix indicative of the device.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

providing an indication of the prefix, wherein an intended recipient of the indication of the prefix is the device.

13. The method of claim 8, the device conditions comprising a mobility status of the device, the mobility status comprising one of mobile or stationary.

14. The method of claim 8, network conditions comprising radio access technology associated with the network entity, the radio access technology comprising at least one of a cellular network type or an access point.

15. A computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising:

determining device conditions pertaining to a device;

determining network conditions pertaining to a network; and

based on the device conditions and the network conditions, determining a network entity with which the device is to communicate with the network, wherein communications between the device and the network utilize an address based on the device and the network entity.
