Abstract

A security system can be used to trigger appliances. The security system can comprise a light socket camera that can be rotatably attached to a light socket of a building. The light socket camera can receive an audible instruction from a user, and in response to receiving the audible instruction from the user, the security system can trigger the appliance to perform an operation.

Claims

1. A method for using a light socket camera to initiate a first event with a first appliance that is communicatively coupled to the light socket camera, comprising:

receiving, by the light socket camera, a first audible instruction from a user, wherein the first audible instruction comprises a first instruction to initiate the first event; and

initiating the first event with the first appliance.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first appliance comprises a television, and the first event comprises activating the television.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, by the light socket camera, a second audible instruction from the user, wherein the second audible instruction comprises a second instruction to initiate a second event with the first appliance; and

initiating the second event with the first appliance.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first appliance comprises one of a light and a television, and wherein the first event comprises activating one of the light and the television, and the second event comprises deactivating one of the light and the television.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, by a microphone of the light socket camera, the first audible instruction from the user.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, by the light socket camera, a second audible instruction from the user, wherein the second audible instruction comprises a second instruction to initiate a second event with a second appliance that is communicatively coupled to the light socket camera; and

initiating the second event with the second appliance.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving, by the light socket camera, a third audible instruction from the user, wherein the third audible instruction comprises a third instruction to initiate a third event with a third appliance that is communicatively coupled to the light socket camera; and

initiating the third event with the third appliance.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising emitting, by a speaker of the light socket camera, an audible response.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting, by a motion detector of the light socket camera, a motion.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

activating a microphone of the light socket camera in response to detecting the motion; and

receiving, by the microphone of the light socket camera, the first audible instruction from the user.

11. A light socket camera, comprising:

a housing;

a light coupled to the housing;

a communication module coupled to the housing; and

a microphone coupled to the housing and communicatively couple to the communication module, wherein the microphone receives an audible instruction to initiate an event with an appliance whereby the communication module initiates the event with the appliance.

12. The light socket camera of claim 11, further comprising a speaker coupled to the housing and communicatively coupled to the communication module.

13. The light socket camera of claim 11, further comprising a motion detector coupled to the housing and communicatively coupled to the communication module.

14. The light socket camera of claim 12, wherein motion detector activates the microphone when the motion detector detects a motion.

15. The light socket camera of claim 11, further comprising a camera coupled to the housing and communicatively coupled to the communication module.

16. The light socket camera of claim 15, wherein the camera is located along a sidewall of the housing, and wherein the sidewall and the camera rotate around the housing.

17. The light socket camera of claim 15, further comprising a cone-shaped mirror coupled to the housing whereby a tip of the cone-shaped mirror faces towards the camera.

18. The light socket camera of claim 11, further comprising a screw thread coupled to the housing, wherein the screw thread rotatably couples the light socket camera to a light socket.

19. The light socket camera of claim 11, wherein the light comprises a light emitting diode.

20. The light socket camera of claim 11, further comprising an accelerometer coupled to the housing, wherein the accelerometer detects an orientation of the light socket camera.
