1. A breathing assistance apparatus comprising:
- a flow generator operable to generate a flow of breathable gas;
a humidifier chamber connected to the flow generator that is operable to heat and humidify the flow of breathable gas;
a conduit connected to receive the heated and humidified flow of breathable gas from the humidification chamber;
a user breathing interface connected to the conduit for delivering the heated and humidified flow of breathable gas to a user;
a controller operable to control the apparatus;
a user control interface operatively connected to the controller that is operable by a user to control the apparatus; and
a display screen adapted to provide visual information to a user,wherein the display screen is configured to display an animation of a rolling cart when the breathing assistance apparatus is operated in a transport mode in which the apparatus is configured to reduce power usage relative to a normal mode.

A breathing assistance apparatus user interface is described which presents animated information related to the management of the apparatus. The user interface is provided on a display screen of the apparatus. The animated illustrations can correspond to operational modes, warnings, user instructions, fault conditions, status, menu options, and the like. The animations can include a sequence of images shown in rapid succession which depict moving icons or objects, scrolling text, flashing colors, or any combination of these or the like. The user interface can combine static information along with animations.
