Abstract

A balloon catheter is described, having a reinforced, co-axial, duel lumen design. At least one of the lumens is formed of a multilayer, tubular element in which one of the layers functions, in part, to provide radial reinforcement to the tubular element.

Claims

1. A balloon catheter comprising:

a balloon attached to a distal portion of a tubular member; and

a purge port in communication with an interior of said balloon and opening to an exterior of said balloon catheter at a location distal to said balloon.

2. A balloon catheter comprising:

a balloon attached to a distal portion of a tubular member;

a purge port in communication with an interior of said balloon; and

, a valve that closes said purge port during a procedure.

3. A balloon catheter comprising:

a balloon attached to a distal portion of a tubular member;

said tubular member having an inflation lumen in communication with said balloon, said inflation lumen having a region with a tapered diameter that decreases in a distal direction.
