Abstract

The liquid crystal display device includes an island-shaped first semiconductor film 102 which is formed over a base insulating film 101 and in which a source 102d, a channel forming region 102a, and a drain 102b are formed; a first electrode 102c which is formed of a material same as the first semiconductor film 102 to be the source 102d or the drain 102b and formed over the base insulating film 101; a second electrode 108 which is formed over the first electrode 102c and includes a first opening pattern 112; and a liquid crystal 110 which is provided over the second electrode 108.

Claims

2. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a first pixel, a second pixel, and a third pixel over the substrate, each of the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel comprising;

a transistor comprising;

a gate electrode on and in contact with the substrate;

a first insulating film over the gate electrode; and

a compound semiconductor film overlapping with the gate electrode with the first insulating film interposed therebetween, the compound semiconductor film comprising In, Ga, and Zn;

a second insulating film over the compound semiconductor film;

a wiring on and in contact with the second insulating film and electrically connected to the compound semiconductor film;

a first conductive film on and in contact with the second insulating film;

a pixel electrode over the second insulating film and electrically connected to the compound semiconductor film via the first conductive film;

a capacitor electrically connected to the pixel electrode, the capacitor comprising;

a second conductive film on and in contact with the substrate;

the second insulating film over the second conductive film; and

a third conductive film on and in contact with the second insulating film and overlapping with the second conductive film with the second insulating film interposed therebetween,

wherein the second insulating film comprises silicon oxide,

wherein the first pixel comprises a red color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the first pixel,

wherein the second pixel comprises a green color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the second pixel,

wherein the third pixel comprises a blue color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the third pixel, and

wherein the red color filter overlaps with the compound semiconductor film in each of the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel.

3. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the wiring is a source wiring.

4. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the second conductive film is an auxiliary wiring.

5. The display device according to claim 2, comprising:

an alignment film over the pixel electrode; and

a liquid crystal over the alignment film.

6. The display device according to claim 2, wherein each of the red color filter, the green color filter, and the blue color filter is on and in contact with the second insulating film.

7. The display device according to claim 2,

wherein the pixel electrode of the first pixel is on and in contact with the red color filter,

wherein the pixel electrode of the second pixel is on and in contact with the green color filter, and

wherein the pixel electrode of the third pixel is on and in contact with the blue color filter.

8. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the pixel electrode is on and in contact with the first conductive film.

9. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the third conductive film.

10. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the pixel electrode comprises a slit.

11. The display device according to claim 2, comprising a common electrode on and in contact with the first insulating film.

12. The display device according to claim 2, wherein the second insulating film is an interlayer insulating film.

13. A display device comprising:

a substrate;

a first pixel, a second pixel, and a third pixel over the substrate, each of the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel comprising;

a transistor comprising;

a gate electrode on and in contact with the substrate;

a first insulating film over the gate electrode; and

a compound semiconductor film overlapping with the gate electrode with the first insulating film interposed therebetween, the compound semiconductor film comprising In, Ga, and Zn;

a second insulating film over the compound semiconductor film;

a wiring on and in contact with the second insulating film and electrically connected to the compound semiconductor film;

a first conductive film on and in contact with the second insulating film;

a pixel electrode over the second insulating film and electrically connected to the compound semiconductor film via the first conductive film;

a capacitor electrically connected to the pixel electrode, the capacitor comprising;

a second conductive film on and in contact with the substrate;

the second insulating film over the second conductive film; and

a third conductive film on and in contact with the second insulating film and overlapping with the second conductive film with the second insulating film interposed therebetween,

wherein the compound semiconductor film comprises an impurity region

wherein the second insulating film comprises silicon oxide,

wherein the first pixel comprises a red color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the first pixel,

wherein the second pixel comprises a green color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the second pixel,

wherein the third pixel comprises a blue color filter between the second insulating film and the pixel electrode of the third pixel, and

wherein the red color filter overlaps with the compound semiconductor film in each of the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel.

14. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the wiring is a source wiring.

15. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the second conductive film is an auxiliary wiring.

16. The display device according to claim 13, comprising:

an alignment film over the pixel electrode; and

a liquid crystal over the alignment film.

17. The display device according to claim 13, wherein each of the red color filter, the green color filter, and the blue color filter is on and in contact with the second insulating film.

18. The display device according to claim 13,

wherein the pixel electrode of the first pixel is on and in contact with the red color filter,

wherein the pixel electrode of the second pixel is on and in contact with the green color filter, and

wherein the pixel electrode of the third pixel is on and in contact with the blue color filter.

19. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the pixel electrode is on and in contact with the first conductive film.

20. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the third conductive film.

21. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the pixel electrode comprises a slit.

22. The display device according to claim 13, comprising a common electrode on and in contact with the first insulating film.

23. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the second insulating film is an interlayer insulating film.
