Abstract

An information processing system includes a touch pad; a display unit; and a processing unit configured to move a cursor shown on a screen of the display unit, depending on an amount of movement and a movement direction of a contact point of a finger of an operator on the touch pad. The processing unit differentiates an amount of movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is one, and for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two or more.

Claims

1. An information processing system, comprising:

a touch pad;

a display unit; and

a processing unit configured to move a cursor shown on a screen of the display unit, depending on an amount of movement and a movement direction of a contact point of a finger of an operator on the touch pad,

wherein the processing unit differentiates an amount of movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is one, and for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two or more.

The information processing system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processing unit differentiates the amount of the movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two, and for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is three or more.

The information processing system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processing unit differentiates the amount of the movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, when the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two, for a case where one of the contact points that first contacts the touch pad has another of the contact points positioned rightward with respect to the one of the contact points, and for a case where the one of the contact points that first contacts the touch pad has the other of the contact points positioned leftward with respect to the one of the contact points.

The information processing system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processing unit differentiates the amount of the movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, when the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two, for a case where one of the contact points that first contacts the touch pad has another of the contact points positioned upward with respect to the one of the contact points, and for a case where the one of the contact points that first contacts the touch pad has the other of the contact points positioned downward with respect to the one of the contact points.

The information processing system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processing unit differentiates the amount of the movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, when the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two, depending on a distance between the contact points.

6. An information processing apparatus, comprising:

a touch pad;

a display unit; and

a processing unit configured to move a cursor shown on a screen of the display unit, depending on an amount of movement and a movement direction of a contact point of a finger of an operator on a touch pad,

wherein the processing unit differentiates an amount of movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point, for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is one, and for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two or more.

7. An information processing method, the method comprising:

a processing step to move a cursor shown on a screen, depending on an amount of movement and a movement direction of a contact point of a finger of an operator on a touch pad,

wherein in the processing step, an amount of movement of the cursor with respect to the amount of the movement of the contact point is differentiated, for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is one, and for a case where the number of the contact points on the touch pad is two or more.
