Abstract

An information display terminal achieves a suitable display of types of electronic content such as electronic books with a display unit, an operation unit for receiving an operation instruction directed to the information display terminal, and a scroll control unit for controlling the operation for automatic scroll processing of the electronic content displayed on the display unit. An operation instruction instructing initiation of the automatic scroll processing is input to the operation unit, the scroll control unit performs control to initiate automatic scroll processing by which the electronic content displayed on the display unit is displayed in such a manner that the electronic content is moved a predetermined distance per predetermined time period; and when an operation instruction instructing interruption of the automatic scroll processing is input to the operation unit, the scroll control unit performs control to interrupt the automatic scroll processing.

Claims

1. An information display terminal capable of displaying an electronic book, the information display terminal including:

a display unit for displaying a page image of the electronic book;

an operation unit for inputting an operation instruction directed to the information display terminal; and

an inter-page scroll processing unit for performing control of scroll processing in such a way that a part of the page image of a page different from the page image of the electronic book, which is displayed on the display unit before the execution of the scroll processing, is displayed on the display unit after the execution of the scroll processing.

2. The information display terminal according to claim 1,

wherein the operation unit is a touch panel placed on the display unit, and

wherein the inter-page scroll processing unit performs the control of the scroll processing by a swipe operation on the touch panel.

3. The information display terminal according to claim 1,

wherein the information display terminal includes a display format check unit for checking whether the text display format of the electronic book displayed on the display unit is vertical writing or horizontal writing, and

wherein the inter-page scroll processing unit changes the direction of scrolling according to the check result of the display format check unit.

4. The information display terminal according to claim 1,

wherein the information display terminal includes a peripheral margin deletion unit for deleting a margin area of the page image of the electronic book so that a line space distance between lines on the page boundary is approximately equal to a line space distance between lines within the page, and

wherein the page image of the electronic book displayed on the display unit is the page image in which the margin area is deleted by the peripheral margin deletion unit.

5. An information display terminal capable of displaying electronic content, the information display terminal including:

a display unit for displaying a page image of the electronic content;

an operation unit for inputting an operation instruction directed to the information display terminal; and

an automatic scroll processing unit for performing scroll processing for a predetermined amount of movement per predetermined time period, according to the operation instruction input to the operation unit.

6. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the information display terminal includes a display format check unit for checking whether the text display format of the electronic content displayed on the display unit is vertical writing or horizontal writing, and

wherein the automatic scroll processing unit changes the direction of scrolling according to the check result of the display format check unit.

7. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the information display terminal includes:

an image input unit for inputting a face image of a user of the information display terminal; and

an eye detection unit for analyzing the face image of the user of the information display terminal that is input by the image input unit, to detect the eye movement of the user,

wherein the automatic scroll processing unit controls the predetermined time period and/or the predetermined amount of movement in the execution of the scroll processing, according to the eye movement of the user of the information display terminal that is detected by the eye detection unit.

8. The information display terminal according to claim 7,

wherein the automatic scroll processing unit controls the predetermined time period and/or the predetermined amount of movement in such a way that the time required for one up-and-down or left-and-right eye movement of the user of the information display terminal, which is detected by the eye detection unit, is approximately equal to the time required for scrolling the amount of movement for one line in the electronic content displayed on the display unit, in the execution of the scroll processing according to the eye movement of the user of the information display terminal that is detected by the eye detection unit.

9. The information display terminal according to claim 7,

wherein the automatic scroll processing unit stops the automatic scroll processing when the eye detection unit determines that the eye of the user of the information display terminal is out of the display unit during the execution of the automatic scroll processing according to the eye movement of the user of the information display terminal that is detected by the eye detection unit.

10. The information display terminal according to claim 7,

wherein the automatic scroll processing unit highlights the characters in the part that the user of the information display terminal is expected to see, according to the detection result in the eye detection unit.

11. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the predetermined amount of movement is equal to or an integral multiple of the distance between pixels in the display device configuring the display unit, or is equal to the distance between lines in the electronic content displayed on the display unit, or an integral multiple or divisor of it.

12. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the predetermined time period changes according to an amount of characters in the electronic content displayed on the display unit.

13. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the electronic content is divided into a plurality of pages.

14. The information display terminal according to claim 13,

wherein the information display terminal includes a peripheral margin deletion unit so that, when the electronic content is divided into a plurality of pages, the peripheral margin deletion unit deletes a margin area of the peripheral portion of the page image of the electronic content in such a way that a line space distance between lines on the page boundary is approximately equal to a line space distance between lines within the page when page images of a plurality of consecutive pages of the electronic content are displayed on the display unit, and

wherein the page image of the electronic content displayed on the display unit is the page image in which the margin area of the peripheral portion is deleted by the peripheral margin deletion unit.

15. The information display terminal according to claim 5,

wherein the electronic content is an electronic book.
