Abstract

A method implemented using at least one processor includes acquiring sensor data from a plurality sensors disposed on a vehicle configured to engage an aircraft for ground operation, wherein the aircraft is a member of a fleet of aircrafts. The method further includes receiving a plurality of environmental parameters from a supervisory system, wherein the supervisory system receives data from at least one of a gate, a service vehicle, a taxi vehicle, another aircraft, and a control center. The method also includes determining a plurality of contextual parameters representative of status of the vehicle based on the sensor data and the plurality of environmental parameters. The method further includes generating a plurality of control parameters based on the plurality of contextual parameters and the plurality of environmental parameters and providing at least one of the plurality of the control parameters to the vehicle for managing airport traffic.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

at least one processor and a memory communicatively coupled to the at least one processor module via a communications link;

a data acquisition module communicatively coupled to the communications link and that acquires sensor data from a plurality of sensors disposed on a vehicle configured to engage an aircraft for ground operation, wherein the aircraft is a member of a fleet of aircrafts;

a supervisory control module communicatively coupled to the data acquisition module and that receives data from at least one of a gate, a service vehicle, a taxi vehicle, another aircraft, and a control center and determine a plurality of environmental parameters; and

a response generator module communicatively coupled to the data acquisition module and the supervisory control module and that;

determines a plurality of contextual parameters representative of status of the vehicle based on the sensor data and the plurality of environmental parameters;

generates a plurality of control parameters based on the plurality of contextual parameters and the plurality of environmental parameters; and

provides at least one control parameter to the vehicle for managing airport traffic;

wherein at least one of the supervisory control module, and the response generator module is stored in the memory and executable by the at least one processor.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the data acquisition module receives a plurality of signals from a plurality of image sensors, a proximity sensor, and a radio frequency sensor disposed on the vehicle.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the data acquisition module receives a video in real time.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the supervisory control module determines a control guidance based on a discretized model of the system and a plurality of constraints comprising airport traffic rules, airport traffic status, safety requirements, airport traffic guidance, and airport layout.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the response generator module determines a recommendation for the vehicle comprising a status of the vehicle, a speed of the vehicle, a location of the vehicle, and a direction of movement of the vehicle.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the response generator module determines an auto-taxi response and a manual response guidance.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the response generator determines a plurality of recommendations for manual response based on the plurality of contextual parameters, and a plurality of environmental parameters.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the response generator determines an automatic response based on the at least one control parameter.

9. A method, comprising:

acquiring sensor data from a plurality sensors disposed on a vehicle configured to engage an aircraft for ground operation, wherein the aircraft is a member of a fleet of aircrafts;

receiving a plurality of environmental parameters from a supervisory system, wherein the supervisory system receives data from at least one of a gate, a service vehicle, a taxi vehicle, another aircraft, and a control center;

determining a plurality of contextual parameters representative of status of the vehicle based on the sensor data and the plurality of environmental parameters;

generating a plurality of control parameters based on the plurality of contextual parameters and the plurality of environmental parameters; and

providing at least one of the plurality of the control parameters to the vehicle for managing airport traffic.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein acquiring comprises receiving signals from at least one of an image sensor, a proximity sensor and a radio frequency sensor disposed on the vehicle.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein acquiring comprises acquiring a video in real time.

12. The method of claim 9, further comprising providing at least one of the plurality of contextual parameters to the supervisory system.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the at least one plurality of contextual parameters comprises at least one of a status of the vehicle, a speed of the vehicle, and a direction of movement of the vehicle.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein receiving comprises obtaining airport traffic rules, airport traffic status, safety requirements, airport traffic guidance, and airport layout.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein generating comprises determining an auto-taxi response and a manual response guidance.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein generating the manual response guidance comprises determining a plurality of recommendations for manual response based on the plurality of contextual parameters and the plurality of environmental parameters.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein generating the auto-taxi response comprises determining an automatic action based on the plurality of control parameters.
