Abstract

A compact lighting system with LEDs for use in the automotive industry and, in particular, for signaling the rear of agricultural machinery. The system may include a housing, lighting electric components, a lens, fastening elements and a protective optical element which covers the fastening elements of the lighting system on the vehicle body. The lens and the housing may be provided with at least two corresponding openings with suitable configurations to allow the positioning of the fastening elements in the central area of the lighting system. The lens may have a frontal surface, comprising a central recessed area. Tubular elements oriented inwards to the lighting system may extend and fit into the corresponding holes, when assembling the lens and the housing.

Claims

1. A compact lighting system with LEDs for mounting on a vehicle'"'"'s body, comprising:

a housing,

electrical lighting components comprising at least two electrically interconnected LED printed circuit boards connected with an electrical system of the vehicle through power and control cables,

a lens,

fastening elements, and

a protective optical element which covers the fastening elements of the lighting system on a vehicle,

wherein the lens and the housing being tightly assembled in which the electrical lighting components are placed,

wherein said lens includes at least two orifices and said housing includes at least two holes each corresponding to a said orifice positioned to accept the fastening elements in the central zone of the lighting system.

2. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein the lens has on its front surface a central recessed area,

wherein said at least two orifices are arranged continue with one or more tubular elements oriented towards the lighting system, which extend and fit into the holes when said lens and housing are assembled,

wherein said tubular elements are provided with an inner surface having a shape which corresponds to fastening elements so that the fastening elements are entirety fit within the tubular elements, without extending beyond the front surface of said central recessed area of said lens.

3. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 2, wherein the protective optical element has corresponding dimensions to those of said central recessed area of lens, so that said optical element covers entirely the recessed area when mounted on the top of the recessed area.

4. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein the housing has raised areas protruding around said holes into which said tubular elements are fitted, reinforcing each of said holes provided in said housing.

The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein the housing is provided with a continuous reinforcing g rib around said holes, and two separation ribs located on the longitudinal axis of the lighting system on both sides of said reinforcing rib, and the reinforcing rib (11) with said separation ribs (12) together separate an interior of the system into two closed spaces, symmetrical to the longitudinal axis of the compact lighting system,

wherein in each of the closed spaces one of said LED printed circuit boards is positioned, and

wherein said ribs have such a height as to not allow light flow emitted by the printed circuit boards to pass from one closed space to another.

6. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein said lens, said casing, said front surface of the lens, said recessed surface of said front surface of said lens and said optical element are rectangular shaped.

7. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein said protective optical element is a retro-reflector.

8. The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 1, wherein the protective optical element is made of the same material as front optical surface of said lens and has the same optical properties as said optical front surface of said lens.

The compact lighting system with LEDs according to claim 3 wherein the protective optical element is assembled by bonding on the recessed area of said lens, over said fastening elements, and wherein the front surface of said optical element assembled on the surface of said recess is flush with the front optical surface of said lens.
