Abstract

An approach is provided for adaptive display and filtering of sensors and sensor data. A sensor manager determines one or more signals associated with one or more sensors. The sensor manager then processes and/or facilitates a processing of the one or more signals for comparison against one or more predetermined signals. The sensor manager determines one or more parameters for one or more filters based, at least in part, on the comparison, wherein the one or more filters operate, at least in part, on the one or more sensors, one or more other signals determined form the one or more sensors, or a combination thereof.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining one or more updates to one or more movement states based, at least in part, on monitoring of one or more signals from sensors;

determining one or more parameters associated with the one or more movement states;

analyzing signal data from one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters;

monitoring the one or more movement states from the one or more signals,

identifying a change of the one or more movement states; and

initiating analyzing the signal data from the one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters according to the identified change.

2. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

processing the one or more signals to determine one or more movement states for a sampling period of the one or more other sensors;

monitoring the one or more signals periodically, continuously, according to a schedule, on demand, or a combination thereof; and

causing, at least in part, one or more updates to the one or more movement states based, at least in part, on the monitoring.

3. A method of claim 1, further comprising:

processing of the one or more signals for comparison against one or more predetermined signals; and

determining one or more parameters for one or more filters based, at least in part, on the comparison,

wherein the one or more filters include, at least in part, one or more adaptive filters, and wherein the one or more parameters include, at least in part, initiation data, one or more coefficients determined from the initiation data, or a combination thereof.

4. A method of claim 3, further comprising:

processing and/or facilitating a processing of the one or more predetermined signals; and

generating one or more models from the processed one or more predetermined signals,

wherein the comparison of the one or more signals against the one or more predetermined signals is based, at least in part, on the one or more models.

5. A method of claim 4, further comprising:

aggregating input from different sensors to generate the one or more models.

6. A method of claim 1, wherein the sensors provide sampling of various types of data.

7. A method of claim 6, further comprising:

providing application of adaptive display and filtering or supply adaptation.

8. A method of claim 6, further comprising:

streaming or buffering sensor data; and

determining a movement state of a monitor subject.

9. A method of claim 1 wherein a form of classification of the one or more signals, the one or more predetermined signals, or a combination thereof, is a movement state, and further comprising:

determining the movement state or an activity level implicating one or more parameters associated with the movement state or the activity level.

10. A method of claim 9, further comprising:

detecting the movement state or the activity level;

comparing the detected movement state or activity level against one or more predetermined signals; and

ceasing collection of data from the one or more signals of the sensors and signal data from the one or more other sensors until the level of the context correlates to one or more predetermined signals.

11. An apparatus comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory including computer program code,

the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following;

determine one or more updates to one or more movement states based, at least in part, on monitoring of one or more signals from sensors;

determine one or more parameters associated with the one or more movement states;

analyze signal data from one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters;

monitor the one or more movement states from the one or more signals,

identify a change of the one or more movement states; and

initiate analyzing the signal data from the one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters according to the identified change.

12. An apparatus of claim 11 wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

process the one or more signals to determine one or more movement states for a sampling period of the one or more other sensors;

monitor of the one or more signals periodically, continuously, according to a schedule, on demand, or a combination thereof; and

cause, at least in part, one or more updates to the one or more movement states based, at least in part, on the monitoring.

13. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

process the one or more signals for comparison against one or more predetermined signals; and

determine one or more parameters for one or more filters based, at least in part, on the comparison,

wherein the one or more filters include, at least in part, one or more adaptive filters, and wherein the one or more parameters include, at least in part, initiation data, one or more coefficients determined from the initiation data, or a combination thereof.

14. An apparatus of claim 13, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

process and/or facilitate a processing of the one or more predetermined signals; and

generate one or more models from the processed one or more predetermined signals,

wherein the comparison of the one or more signals against the one or more predetermined signals is based, at least in part, on the one or more models.

15. An apparatus of claim 14, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

aggregate input from different sensors to generate the one or more models.

16. An apparatus of claim 11, wherein a form of classification of the one or more signals, the one or more predetermined signals, or a combination thereof, is a movement state, and the apparatus is further caused to:

determine the movement state or an activity level implicating one or more parameters associated with the movement state or the activity level.

17. An apparatus of claim 16, wherein the apparatus is further caused to:

detect the movement state or the activity level;

compare the detected movement state or activity level against one or more predetermined signals; and

cease collection of data from the one or more signals of the sensors and signal data from the one or more other sensors until the level of the context correlates to one or more predetermined signals.

18. A computer-readable non-transitory storage medium carrying one or more sequences of one or more instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause an apparatus to at least perform the following:

determining one or more updates to one or more movement states based, at least in part, on monitoring of one or more signals from sensors;

determining one or more parameters associated with the one or more movement states;

analyzing signal data from one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters;

monitoring the one or more movement states from the one or more signals,

identifying a change of the one or more movement states; and

initiating analyzing the signal data from the one or more other sensors based on the one or more movement states according to the one or more parameters according to the identified change.

19. A computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 18, wherein the apparatus is further caused to perform the following:

processing the one or more signals to determine one or more movement states for a sampling period of the one or more other sensors;

monitoring the one or more signals periodically, continuously, according to a schedule, on demand, or a combination thereof; and

causing, at least in part, one or more updates to the one or more movement states based, at least in part, on the monitoring.

20. A computer-readable non-transitory storage medium of claim 18, wherein the apparatus processing of the one or more signals for comparison against one or more predetermined signals;

and wherein the apparatus is further cause to perform the following;

determining one or more parameters for one or more filters based, at least in part, on the comparison,

wherein the one or more filters include, at least in part, one or more adaptive filters, and wherein the one or more parameters include, at least in part, initiation data, one or more coefficients determined from the initiation data, or a combination thereof.
