1. A driving assistance device comprising:
- an automated driving switch;
an emergency button; and
a controller configured to provide either automated driving in which travel is performed along a current travel path of a host vehicle or automated stopping in response to manipulation by a driver of the automated driving switch or the emergency button;
wherein the automated driving in which travel is performed along the current travel path comprises selecting a straight lane from a plurality of travel lanes,selecting a lane other than a passing lane from the plurality of travel lanes,selecting an uncrowded lane from the plurality of travel lanes,selecting a lane according to a direction of a traffic indicator manipulated by the driver from the plurality of travel lanes,selecting a road with a bigger width from among candidate roads when it is not possible to go straight or there are a plurality of candidate roads,selecting the road according to a direction of a small intersection angle with respect to a road on which travel is being performed or according to a direction of a small steering angle from among candidate roads when it is not possible to go straight or there are a plurality of candidate roads,selecting the road according to the direction of the traffic indicator manipulated by the driver from among candidate roads when it is not possible to go straight or there are a plurality of candidate roads, orgenerating a route that enables the host vehicle to continue safe travel according to traffic rules;
wherein the automated stopping comprisessearching for a place where stopping can be performed without obstructing passage of another vehicle,changing from a route where parking and stopping is prohibited to a route where stopping may be performed;
blinking hazard lamps if there is a possibility that a selected stopping location may obstruct the travel of another vehicle,blinking the hazard lamps if there is a danger of immediate slowdown when stopping is performed,generating a route that enables a vehicle to safely perform stopping, orgenerating a route in which stopping is performed in such a way as to approach to the left side of the road on which travel is being performed.
