Abstract

In a method for operating a motor vehicle which is configured to autonomously drives to a predefined travel destination, a driver'"'"'s line of view is detected, and the autonomous driving operation is influenced as a function of the detected driver'"'"'s line of view.

Claims

1. A method for operating a host motor vehicle which is configured to drive to a predefined destination autonomously, the method comprising:

detecting a driver'"'"'s line of view; and

influencing the autonomous driving operation of the host motor vehicle as a function of the detected driver'"'"'s line of view.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the autonomous driving operation is influenced only when a verification command by the driver is detected in addition to the detected driver'"'"'s line of view.

3. The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when an adjacent traffic lane is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, the autonomous driving operation of the host motor vehicle is influenced to drive the host motor vehicle to the adjacent traffic lane.

The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when a traffic sign indicating a speed limit is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, the autonomous driving operation of the host motor vehicle is influenced to one of accelerate or decelerate the host motor vehicle to the indicated speed limit.

The method as recited in claim 2, wherein data from at least one of a surround sensor system and a navigation system are used for comparing the detected driver'"'"'s line of view with surrounding environment of the motor vehicle in order to determine an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view.

The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when a parking space is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, the autonomous driving operation of the host motor vehicle is influenced to steer the host motor vehicle in the direction of the parking space and park the host motor vehicle.

The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when a point of interest is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, at least one of (i) the speed of the host motor vehicle is reduced and (ii) the position of the motor vehicle is changed for a better view of the point of interest.

8. The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when a point of interest is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, information relating to the point of interest is displayed via a display.

9. The method as recited in claim 2, wherein when a vehicle driving ahead is detected as an observation target along the detected driver'"'"'s line of view, a distance between the host motor vehicle and the vehicle driving ahead is one of kept constant or reduced.

10. A control system for an autonomous driving motor vehicle further equipped with a navigation system and a surround sensor system, the motor vehicle being configured to drive to a predefined travel destination autonomously, the control system comprising:

a control unit including a processor configured to;

detect a driver'"'"'s line of view; and

influence the autonomous driving operation of the host motor vehicle as a function of the detected driver'"'"'s line of view.
