Abstract

Various aspects of a method and system for audio data transmission are disclosed herein. The method includes selection of a frequency modulation (FM) band by a first electronic device. The FM band is selected to receive an audio portion of a multimedia content rendered at a display device. The method further includes receipt of a video description portion of the multimedia content, via the selected FM band.

Claims

1. A method for audio data transmission, said method comprising:

in an first electronic device;

selecting a frequency modulation (FM) band to receive an audio portion of a multimedia content being rendered at a display device; and

receiving a video description portion of said multimedia content via said selected FM band.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said multimedia content comprises said audio portion, a video portion, and/or said video description portion.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising receiving said audio portion of said multimedia content via said selected FM band.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein said received audio portion corresponds to a primary audio associated with said multimedia content.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein said received video description portion corresponds to a secondary audio associated with said multimedia content.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein said received video description portion comprises a first audio describing a video portion associated with said multimedia content and/or a second audio describing additional information associated with said multimedia content.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein said additional information comprises Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information, a trailer, a synopsis, a closed-caption, a sub-title, title, a rating, genre information, and/or metadata content associated with said multimedia content.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein said received audio portion is associated with a first set of audio characteristics, and wherein said received video description portion is associated with a second set of audio characteristics.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein said first set of audio characteristics and said second set of audio characteristics comprise one or more of:

a pitch, a tone, an intensity, and/or a harmonic content associated with said received audio portion and said received video description portion, respectively.

10. The method according to claim 8, further comprising transmitting said received audio portion and said received video description portion to a second electronic device via a short-range communication network.

The method according to claim 10, wherein said transmitted audio portion and/or said transmitted video description portion are played back in synchronization with respect to each other at said second electronic device, wherein said synchronization comprises adjustment of said first set of audio characteristics and said second set of audio characteristics with respect to each other.

12. The method according to claim 1, further comprising transmitting a notification to said display device when power level of a battery of said first electronic device is less than a pre-defined threshold.

13. The method according to claim 1, further comprising performing selection of said FM band via a user interface (UI) rendered at said first electronic device.

14. A method for audio data transmission, said method comprising:

in a display device;

transmitting an audio portion of a multimedia content being rendered at said display device to a first electronic device via a selected frequency modulation (FM) band; and

transmitting a video description portion of said multimedia content to said first electronic device via said selected FM band, wherein said transmission of said audio portion is synchronized with said transmission of said video description portion.

15. The method according to claim 14, further assigning said selected FM band to said multimedia content via a user interface (UI) associated with said display device.

16. The method according to claim 15, further comprising selecting a language of said audio portion, and/or said video description portion based on a user preference received via said UI, and/or a geographical location of said display device and/or said first electronic device.

17. The method according to claim 14, wherein said transmitted audio portion and said transmitted video description portion are further transmitted to a second electronic device by said first electronic device via a short-range communication network.

18. The method according to claim 17, further comprising disabling one or more speakers associated with said display device when said transmitted audio portion and/or said transmitted video description portion are played back at said second electronic device.

19. The method according to claim 14, further comprising simultaneously rendering another multimedia content at said display device.

20. The method according to claim 19, further comprising transmitting another audio portion of said another multimedia content via another selected FM band.

21. The method according to claim 20, further comprising transmitting another video description portion of said another multimedia content to said first electronic device via said another selected FM band.

22. A system for audio data transmission, said system comprising:

one or more processors in a first electronic device, said one or more processors being operable to;

select a frequency modulation (FM) band to receive an audio portion of a multimedia content being rendered at a display device; and

receive a video description portion of said multimedia content via said selected FM band.

23. A system for audio data transmission, said system comprising:

one or more processors in a display device, said one or more processors being operable to;

transmit an audio portion of a multimedia content being rendered at said display device to a first electronic device via a selected FM band; and

transmit a video description portion of said multimedia content to said first electronic device via said selected FM band, wherein said transmission of said audio portion is synchronized with said transmission of said video description portion.
