Abstract

A method for determining a location of a target device and an electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes acquiring an image photographing a first electronic device, determining a distance between the second electronic device and the first electronic device based on the acquired image, determining a direction in which the second electronic device photographs the first electronic device, determining a location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the decided distance and direction, and registering the determined location.

Claims

1. A method of determining a location of at least one electronic device in a second electronic device, the method comprising:

acquiring an image comprising a first electronic device;

determining a distance between the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the acquired image;

determining a direction of the second electronic device;

determining a location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the determined distance and direction; and

storing the determined location.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising previously determining location information of any one of the second electronic device and the first electronic device,

wherein the determining of the location of any one of the second electronic device and the first electronic device comprises:

confirming the device of which the location is previously determined among the first electronic device and the second electronic device; and

determining a location of the other device based on location information of the device of which the location is previously determined.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the previously determining of the location information of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device comprises:

receiving location information of the first electronic device from the first electronic device; and

previously determining the received location information of the first electronic device as the location information of the first electronic device.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the previously determining of the location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device comprises:

receiving an input of current location information of the second electronic device in accordance to user control; and

determining the inputted current location information of the second electronic device as the location information of the second electronic device.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

detecting an identifier of a new electronic device using tag information before acquiring the image comprising the first electronic device;

detecting the existence of the new electronic device based on the detected identifier;

requesting to acquire the image comprising the first electronic device in a location of the new electronic device to a user; and

if a location of the second electronic device is determined based on the determined distance and direction, determining the determined location of the second electronic device as the location of the detected new electronic device.

The method of claim 1, wherein the acquiring of the image comprising the first electronic device comprises photographing the first electronic device in the second electronic device, or receiving an image comprising the first electronic device in other electronic device from the other electronic device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining of the distance between the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the acquired image comprises:

determining the first electronic device in the acquired image; and

determining a distance between a location of the determined first electronic device and a location of other electronic device taking the image.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a zone where the first electronic device is located, based on the determined location of the first electronic device.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising controlling the first electronic device based on the determined location,

wherein the controlling of the first electronic device based on the determined location comprises:

confirming a type and feature of a zone where the first electronic device is located; and

controlling the first electronic device based on at least one of the confirmed type and feature of the zone and the kind of the first electronic device,

wherein the controlling of the first electronic device based on the determined location comprises installing or uninstalling an application in the first electronic device, or controlling a menu of the application.

10. A method of determining a location of a target device in a host device, the method comprising:

detecting the target device;

requesting an image capture to at least one client device;

receiving a captured image from the at least one client device; and

comparing a stored captured image and the currently received captured image from the at least one client device and determining a location of the target device.

11. A second electronic device for determining a location of at least one electronic device, the second electronic device comprising:

at least one processor configured to;

after acquiring an image comprising a first electronic device, determine a distance between the second electronic device and the first electronic device based on the acquired image;

determine a direction of the second electronic device; and

determine a location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the determined distance and direction; and

a memory configured to storing the determined location.

12. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

previously determine location information of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device; and

when determining the location of any one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device, determine a location of the other device based on location information of the device of which the location is previously determined among the first electronic device and the second electronic device.

13. The second electronic device of claim 12, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

receive location information of the first electronic device from the first electronic device; and

previously determine the received location information of the first electronic device as the location information of the first electronic device.

16. The second electronic device of claim 12, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

receive an input of current location information of the second electronic device in accordance to user control; and

determine the inputted current location information of the second electronic device as the location information of the second electronic device.

17. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

detect an identifier of a new electronic device using tag information before acquiring the image comprising the first electronic device;

detect the existence of the new electronic device based on the detected identifier;

request to acquire the image comprising the first electronic device in a location of the new electronic device to a user; and

if a location of the second electronic device is determined based on the determined distance and direction, determine the determined location of the second electronic device as the location of the detected new electronic device.

18. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is configured to photograph the first electronic device in the second electronic device, or receive an image comprising the first electronic device in other electronic device from the other electronic device.

19. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:

determine the first electronic device in the acquired image; and

determine a distance between a location of the determined first electronic device and a location of other electronic device taking the image.

20. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to determine a zone where the first electronic device is located, based on the determined location of the first electronic device.

21. The second electronic device of claim 11, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

control the first electronic device based on the determined location,

wherein the controlling of the first electronic device based on the determined location comprises;

confirming a type and feature of a zone where the first electronic device is located; and

controlling the first electronic device based on at least one of the confirmed type and feature of the zone and the kind of the first electronic device,

wherein the controlling of the first electronic device based on the determined location comprises installing or uninstalling an application in the first electronic device, or controlling a menu of the application.

15. A host device for determining a location of a target device, the host device comprising:

at least one processor configured to;

detect the target device,

request an image capture to at least one client device, to receive a captured image from the at least one client device,

compare a stored captured image and the currently received captured image from the at least one client device, and

determine a location of the target device.
