1. A method of determining a position of a mobile device in a vehicle, the method comprising:

  • determining a peak angular velocity time, while a vehicle is turning, at which a peak value of an angular velocity around a vertical axis of the vehicle occurs;

    determining a peak lateral acceleration time, while the vehicle is turning, at which a peak value of linear acceleration along a lateral axis occurs, the lateral axis being perpendicular to the vertical axis and perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle;

    calculating a first time difference between the peak angular velocity time and the peak lateral acceleration time; and

    determining, based at least in part on the time difference, whether a first mobile device is in a front area of the vehicle.
