- a controller comprising one or more processors configured to generate a control signal for remotely controlling operation of a vehicle;
a cellular modem configured to wirelessly communicate a cellular signal with a communication device disposed onboard the vehicle; and
a wireless modem configured to wirelessly communicate a non-cellular signal with the communication device disposed onboard the vehicle, wherein one or more of the cellular signal or the non-cellular signal represents the control signal generated by the controller in order to remotely control the operation of the vehicle.

A remote control device includes a controller having one or more processors configured to generate a control signal for remotely controlling operation of a vehicle. The remote control device also can include a cellular modem configured to wirelessly communicate a cellular signal with a communication device disposed onboard the vehicle and a wireless modem configured to wirelessly communicate a non-cellular signal with the communication device disposed onboard the vehicle. One or more of the cellular signal or the non-cellular signal represents the control signal generated by the controller in order to remotely control the operation of the vehicle.
