Abstract

Method for checking a device for a vehicle for detecting an impact, in particular an impact with a pedestrian, by means of at least one impact-sensing means which is based on at least a first volume, in particular by means of an impact-sensing means which is based on at least one hose, a device having means for carrying out such a method and a corresponding system, in which at least one first variable is acquired, wherein the at least one first variable represents a pressure and/or a volume and/or a change in pressure and/or a change in volume in the first volume, and a result of the checking of the device is determined as a function of a profile of the at least one first variable.

Claims

1. A method for checking a device for a vehicle that detects an impact using at least one impact detection means based on at least one first volume the method comprising:

detecting at least one first variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the at least one first volume, a volume in the at least one first volume, a change of pressure in the at least one first volume, and change of volume in the at least one first volume; and

determining a result of the checking of the device based on a profile of the at least one first variable.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

detecting the at least one first variable with at least one first detecting device, the at least one first detecting device being configured to communicate with the at least one first volume and with the surroundings of the vehicle, the communication with the surroundings taking place using of compensation means;

comparing the profile of the at least one first variable with a target profile, the target profile being dependent on the compensation means; and

determining the result of the checking of the device based on the comparison.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1 further comprising:

detecting at least one second variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the at least one first volume, a volume in the at least one first volume, a change of pressure in the at least one first volume, and change of volume in the at least one first volume; and

verifying the at least one first variable using the at least one second variable, the verifying being done by at least one of (i) using at least one of using at least one state equation for ideal fluids, and (ii) correlating the at least one first variable with the at least one second variable; and

determining the result of the checking of the device based on the verification.

4. The method as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:

detecting the at least one first variable with a first detecting device; and

detecting the at least one second variable with a second detecting device,

wherein the first and second detecting devices are separate detecting devices and each communicate with the at least one first volume.

5. The method as claimed in claim 4, further comprising:

detecting at least one third variable that represents at least one of a pressure in a surrounding of the vehicle, a change of pressure in the surrounding of the vehicle, a temperature in the surrounding of the vehicle, a change of temperature in the surrounding of the vehicle, an altitude of the vehicle and a change of altitude of the vehicle, the at least one third variable being detected by a third detecting device that is separate from the first and second detecting devices;

correlating at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable with the at least one third variable; and

determining the result of the checking of the device based on the correlation.

6. The method as claimed in claim 5, the correlating further comprising:

using a correction factor on the at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable, the correction factor being dependent on the at least one third variable.

7. The method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:

determining at least one of a leak and a blockage of the at least one first volume based on the result of the checking of the device.

8. The method as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:

determining the at least one of the leak and the blockage if the at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable do not correlate with the at least one third variable within a predetermined range.

The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein the at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable correlate with the at least one third variable if the at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable have a predetermined relationship to the at least one third variable after a predetermined period of time has elapsed, the period of time depending on at least one of the at least one third variable and a compensation means.

10. A device of a vehicle that detects an impact using at least one impact detection means based on at least one first volume, the device comprising:

at least one first detecting device configured to detect a first variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the at least one first volume, a volume in the at least one first volume, a change of pressure in the at least one first volume, and a change of volume in the at least one first volume; and

wherein a result of checking the device is determined based on a profile of the at least one first variable.

11. A system for checking a device for a vehicle that detects an impact using at least one impact detection means based on at least one first volume, the system comprising:

a device having at least one first detecting device configured to detect a first variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the at least one first volume, a volume in the at least one first volume, a change of pressure in the at least one first volume, and a change of volume in the at least one first volume, and

wherein the system is configured to determine a result of checking the device based on a profile of the at least one first variable.

12. The system as claimed in claim 11, wherein:

the at least one first detecting device communicates both with the at least one first volume and a second volume, the second volume being a surrounding, wherein, at least one of the at least one first detecting device and the at least one volume comprising at least one compensation means, the communications with the second volume taking place using the at least one compensation means;

the system is configured to compare the profile of the at least one first variable with a target profile, the target profile being dependent on the compensation means; and

the system is configured to determine the result of checking the device based on the comparison.

13. The system as claimed in claim 11, further comprising:

at least one second detecting device configured to detect at least one second variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the at least one first volume, a volume in the at least one first volume, a change of pressure in the at least one first volume, and a change of volume in the at least one first volume; and

wherein the system verifies the at least one first variable using the at least one second variable, the verifying being done by at least one of (i) using at least one of using at least one state equation for ideal fluids, and (ii) correlating the at least one first variable with the at least one second variable; and

wherein the system is configured to determine the result of checking the device depending on the verification and/or on the correlation.

14. The system as claimed in claim 12, wherein the first detecting device and the second detecting device are separate detecting devices and each communicate with the at least one first volume.

15. The system as claimed in claim 11, further comprising:

at least one third detecting device configured to detect at least one third variable that represents at least one of a pressure in the second volume, a change of pressure in the second volume, a temperature of the second volume, a change of temperature of the second volume an altitude of the vehicle, and a change of altitude of the vehicle the third detecting device being a separate detecting device,

wherein the system is configured to correlate at least one of the at least one first variable and the at least one second variable with the at least one third variable; and

wherein the system is configured to determine the result of the checking of the device based on the correlation.

16. The system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the result of the check is at least one of a leak and blockage of the at least one first volume.
