Abstract

Technologies are generally described for an automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system. In various examples, the AED dispatch system may include a receiver, a vehicle determination unit, and a transmitter. The receiver may be configured to receive, from a first device, a request message that includes first location information that indicates a location of the first device, and also receive, from one or more of second devices, one or more report messages, each of which includes second location information that indicates a location of the corresponding one of the second devices. The vehicle determination unit may be configured to select a vehicle to be dispatched based at least in part on the first location information and the respective second location information. The transmitter may be configured to transmit an instruction message to the second device associated with the selected vehicle to be dispatched.

Claims

1. An automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system, comprising:

a receiver configured to;

receive a request message from a first device, wherein the request message includes first location information that indicates a location of the first device; and

receive one or more report messages from one or more second devices,

wherein each of the one or more report messages includes second location information that indicates a location of one of the second devices,

wherein each of the second devices is associated with a candidate vehicle from a plurality of candidate vehicles, and

wherein each of the plurality of candidate vehicles has an automated external defibrillator (AED);

a vehicle determination unit configured to;

select the candidate vehicle from the plurality of candidate vehicles to be dispatched based at least in part on the first location information and the second location information; and

a transmitter configured to;

transmit an instruction message to the second device associated with the candidate vehicle to be dispatched, wherein the instruction message includes the first location information.

2. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1, further comprising:

storage configured to store information associated with the plurality of candidate vehicles.

3. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1, wherein the receiver is further configured to:

periodically receive the one or more report messages from the one or more second devices; and

update information associated with the plurality of candidate vehicles.

4. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1, wherein the vehicle determination unit is further configured to:

extract direction information associated with the plurality of candidate vehicles from the received one or more report messages; and

select the candidate vehicle from the plurality of candidate vehicles to be dispatched based additionally on the extracted direction information.

6. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1, further comprising:

an instruction message generator configured to generate the instruction message for the candidate vehicle to be dispatched.

7. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 6, wherein the instruction message includes route information for the candidate vehicle to be dispatched and to reach the first device.

8. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1,

wherein the first location information includes a location coordinate of the first device, and

wherein the second location information includes location coordinates of the plurality of candidate vehicles.

9. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1,

wherein the first location information includes cell information associated with a cellular network accessed by the first device, and

wherein the second location information includes cell information associated with the cellular network accessed by the plurality of candidate vehicles.

10. The automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system of claim 1,

wherein the first location information includes information associated with a Wi-Fi access point accessed by the first device, and

wherein the second location information includes information associated with Wi-Fi access points accessed by the plurality of candidate vehicles.

14. A method performed under control of an automated external defibrillator (AED) dispatch system, the method comprising:

receiving, from a first device, a request message that includes first location information of the first device;

receiving, from one or more second devices, one or more report messages,

wherein each of the one or more report messages includes second location information associated with a location of each of the second devices,

wherein each of the second devices is associated with a candidate vehicle from a plurality of candidate vehicles, and

wherein each of the plurality of candidate vehicles has an automated external defibrillator (AED);

determining a candidate vehicle from the plurality of candidate vehicles to be dispatched based at least in part on the first location information and the second location information; and

transmitting an instruction message to the second device associated with the candidate vehicle to be dispatched, wherein the instruction messages includes the first location information.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

receiving information about traffic conditions between the first device and the plurality of candidate vehicles from one or more traffic watchers; and

using the information about the traffic conditions to determine the candidate vehicle to be dispatched.

18. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

generating the instruction message to include route information for the candidate vehicle to be dispatched.

19. The method of claim 14,

wherein the first location information includes a coordinate of the first device, and

wherein the second location information includes coordinates of the plurality of candidate vehicles.

23. The method of claim 14, wherein the second device is a portable electronic device.

24. An automated external defibrillator (AED), comprising:

a defibrillation unit configured to provide a patient with electrical therapy;

a location identification unit configured to identify location information of the automated external defibrillator (AED); and

a wireless communications unit configured to transmit the identified location information to an associated device.

25. The automated external defibrillator (AED) of claim 24, wherein the location identification unit is further configured to:

identify a Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinate of the automated external defibrillator (AED).

26. The automated external defibrillator (AED) of claim 24, wherein the location identification unit is further configured to identify cell information of a cellular network accessed by the automated external defibrillator (AED).

28. The automated external defibrillator (AED) of claim 24, wherein the wireless communications unit is further configured to periodically transmit the identified location information to the associated device.

29. The automated external defibrillator (AED) of claim 24,

wherein the associated device is a portable electronic device, and

wherein the wireless communications unit is further configured to wirelessly transmit the identified location information to the associated device.

30. The automated external defibrillator (AED) of claim 24, wherein the associated device is a remote server configured to manage dispatch of the automated external defibrillator (AED).
