Abstract

An integrated ceiling device (80, 120) includes an electronics assembly (56) and a mechanical arrangement (20). The mechanical arrangement includes a housing (22), a heat dissipating structure (24), and support arms (26). The housing is configured to retain the electronics assembly. The heat dissipating structure includes a lamp seat (50) for receiving a light source (54), and a central opening (34) surrounded by fins (36). The support arms extend between and interconnect the housing with the heat dissipating structure. The housing is positioned within the central opening and is spaced apart from the fins of the heat dissipating structure to enable a free flow of air in an air gap (42) between the housing (22) and the structure (24). The electronics assembly may include a plurality of elements (160, 162, 164, 166) retained in the housing which are spaced apart from the heat dissipating structure.

Claims

1. An ambient light level maintenance device integrated into a local environmental area manager comprising:

a camera supported by analytics; and

a processor, wherein the camera monitors and maintains ambient light levels in real time in response to the processor processing data received from the camera and data from neighboring devices, wherein maintaining ambient light levels includes controlling artificial light levels within a vicinity of the local environmental area manager and includes maintaining illumination uniformly among all networked local environmental area managers accounting for changing illumination conditions and/or reflectance value inputs.

2. The device of claim 1, further comprising software that allows changes to operational parameters based on occupancy, time of day and special events.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device operates as an occupancy sensor, wherein light is activated in response to sensing motion and/or heat generating body proximity of the ambient light level maintenance device.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device operates as a building security device, wherein the lights are activated and images are recorded and transmitted in response to sensing an unauthorized presence.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device operates as a safety monitoring device, wherein the camera'"'"'s analytics software recognizes bodily harm threats and alarms occupant.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device comprises programmed instructions for monitoring occupant behavior.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device comprises programmed instructions for monitoring space utilization and traffic patterns.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device comprises programmed instructions for identifying fire and/or smoke threats to occupants.

9. The device of claim 1, wherein the ambient light level maintenance device comprises programmed instructions for identifying weapons within a vicinity of the local environmental area manager.

10. A method of self-commissioning a network of local environmental area managers, the method comprising:

assigning sequential numbers to local environmental area managers equipped with cameras supported by analytics;

installing said local environmental area managers in locations corresponding to a digital plan;

manually commissioning a first local environmental area manager with its sequential number by associating it with an address of the installed location of said first local environmental area manager corresponding to the digital plan;

operating a controller to perform automated commissioning of remaining non-commissioned local environmental area managers, wherein the controller is programmed to modulate light levels of all the local environmental area managers;

observing directionality and intensity of the modulated light levels with the camera of said first local environment area manager to identify neighboring local environment area managers with their assigned sequential numbers and associating said neighboring local environmental area managers with addresses of the installed location of said neighboring local environmental area manager corresponding to the digital plan; and

repeating the automated commissioning and observing for each local environment area manager after it has been commissioned.

The method of claim 10, further comprising a wireless communication device onboard all network area managers wherein a known location manager communication device monitors wireless communication signal intensity with corresponding directionality in determining nearby manager address and facilitating its commissioning.

12. An addressable local environmental area manager assembly comprising:

a housing;

a processor with resident memory, a power modulator, and a communication device coupled within the housing, wherein the local area environmental area manager is programmed to;

communicate with remote and local devices, wherein the local devices share a compatible power and communication platform and are coupled anywhere within the local environmental area manager assembly.

13. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising external removable devices comprising at least one of backup power supply with charger, uplight lighting module, and combinations thereof, wherein the placement and power connectivity of the devices is interchangeable.

14. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising a lighting lamp seat on a heatsink for accommodating a broad range of lamp arrays and optical lenses.

15. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising a door at a bottom of the housing to provide bottom access to a low voltage compartment, wherein a local device is mountable to the door.

16. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising a door containing an array of devices, wherein the array of devices includes a camera supported by analytics.

17. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising a modular external uplight module, wherein the external uplight module is removably coupled to the housing.

18. The assembly of claim 12, wherein the housing is an expandable housing, wherein the expandable housing allows vertical expansion of the housing cavity to accommodate device requirements.

19. The assembly of claim 12, wherein the local environmental area manager is programmed to wirelessly transmit data to remote devices.
