Abstract

A social network system that provides a keyword search result set from content within the social network receives from an enterprise application a business object and an associated system of record, and generates a social object for the social network, where the social object corresponds to the business object and associated system of record. The system generates a plurality of conversations related to the social object, where each conversation comprises content. The system indexes each of the conversations as a conversation document and receives a keyword search term. The system then searches for the keyword search term within the conversation documents, and generates a result set of relevant conversations in response to the searching, where the relevant conversations are displayed in order of relevance.

Claims

1. A computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to provide a keyword search result set from content within a social network, the providing comprising:

receiving from an enterprise application a business object and an associated system of record;

generating a social object for the social network, wherein the social object corresponds to the business object and associated system of record;

generating a plurality of conversations related to the social object, wherein each conversation comprises content;

indexing each of the conversations as a conversation document;

receiving a keyword search term;

searching for the keyword search term within the conversation documents; and

generating a result set of relevant conversations in response to the searching, wherein the relevant conversations are displayed in order of relevance.

2. The computer readable medium of claim 1, wherein the content comprises at least one of a message, a document or an image.

3. The computer readable medium of claim 1, wherein each conversation comprises zero or more messages, and the response to the searching comprises a list of the messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

4. The computer readable medium of claim 3, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

5. The computer readable medium of claim 4, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of documents for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

6. The computer readable medium of claim 1, further comprising displaying a snippet for each displayed conversation.

7. The computer readable medium of claim 1, further comprising displaying a number of matched messages when the relevant conversations are displayed.

8. The computer readable medium of claim 1, further comprising displaying for each conversation a selectable link that when selected displays all relevant content for the conversation.

22. The computer readable medium of claim 1, wherein the social object comprises:

a wall; and

a membership.

23. The computer readable medium of claim 1, wherein the business object comprises data from the enterprise application.

9. A computer implemented method for providing a keyword search result set from content within a social network, the method comprising:

receiving from an enterprise application a business object and an associated system of record;

generating a social object for the social network, wherein the social object corresponds to the business object and associated system of record;

generating a plurality of conversations related to the social object, wherein each conversation comprises content;

indexing each of the conversations as a conversation document;

receiving a keyword search term;

searching for the keyword search term within the conversation documents; and

generating a result set of relevant conversations in response to the searching, wherein the relevant conversations are displayed in order of relevance.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the content comprises at least one of a message, a document or an image.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein each conversation comprises zero or more messages, and the response to the searching comprises a list of the messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of documents for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

14. The method of claim 9, further comprising displaying a snippet for each displayed conversation.

15. The method of claim 9, further comprising displaying a number of matched messages when the relevant conversations are displayed.

16. The method of claim 9, further comprising displaying for each conversation a selectable link that when selected displays all relevant content for the conversation.

17. A social network comprising:

a social object that corresponds to a business object and associated system of record received from an enterprise application

a plurality of conversations related to the social object, wherein each conversation comprises content;

an indexing module that indexes each of the conversations as a conversation document;

a keyword search module that receives a keyword search term and searches for the keyword search term within the indexed conversation documents; and

a search results module that generates a result set of relevant conversations in response to the searching, wherein the relevant conversations are displayed in order of relevance.

18. The social network of claim 17, wherein the content comprises at least one of a message, a document or an image.

19. The social network of claim 17, wherein each conversation comprises zero or more messages, and the response to the searching comprises a list of the messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

20. The social network of claim 19, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of messages for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.

21. The social network of claim 19, wherein the order of relevance is based at least on a relative number of documents for each conversation that include at least one occurrence of the search term.
