Abstract

A microwave motion sensor has a circuit assembly for intrusion detection in a predetermined space. The microwave motion sensor comprising a control unit, a microwave sensing unit and a microwave confining unit. The microwave sensing unit, for transmitting and receiving a microwave signal, is separated in structure but electrically coupled to the control unit. The microwave confining unit, for managing a detection zone of the microwave signal, has an accommodating space formed inside the microwave confining unit, and the microwave sensing unit being disposed inside the accommodating space. Wherein the circuit assembly is divided into the control unit and the microwave sensing unit, the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal varies based on the shape of the microwave confining unit and the shape of the microwave confining unit varies based on the predetermined space.

Claims

1. A microwave motion sensor having a circuit assembly, for intrusion detection in a predetermined space, the microwave motion sensor comprising:

a control unit;

a microwave sensing unit coupled to the control unit, for transmitting and receiving a microwave signal; and

a microwave confining unit, for managing a detection zone of the microwave signal, having an accommodating space formed inside the microwave confining unit, and the microwave sensing unit being disposed inside the accommodating space;

wherein the circuit assembly is divided into the control unit and the microwave sensing unit, the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal varies based on the disposed position of the microwave sensing unit and the construction of the microwave confining unit, the construction of the microwave confining unit varies based on the predetermined space.

2. The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, further comprising an adjustable means for adjusting the disposed position of the microwave sensing unit in the microwave confining unit for managing the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal.

3. The microwave motion sensor of claim 2, wherein the adjustable means is a telescopic unit integrated with the microwave sensing unit for moving the microwave sensing unit up and down inside the accommodating space.

The microwave motion sensor of claim 2, wherein the adjustable means is a telescopic unit integrated with the microwave confining unit for adjusting the position of the microwave confining unit relative to the microwave sensing unit for managing the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal.

The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the control unit comprises a microcontroller with a hardware set up and software program codes to perform functions of generating the microwave signal, interpreting an echoed microwave signal received from the microwave sensing unit caused by a motion intrusion and accordingly managing the on/off performance of a load coupled with the control unit.

6. The microwave motion sensor of claim 5, wherein the load is a light emitting unit.

7. The microwave motion sensor of claim 6, wherein the control unit further comprises a programmable timer to offer one or more options of time delays for automatic shut off.

8. The microwave motion sensor of claim 5, wherein the load is an alarm system, a security camera system, a fan or an air conditioner.

9. The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave sensing unit comprises a microwave signal transmitter and a microwave signal receiver, wherein the microwave sensing unit is structurally separated from the control unit while electrically remaining coupled with the control unit.

10. The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave confining unit is a hollow metallic construction, or a hollow non-metallic construction laminated with metallic foil.

11. The microwave motion sensor of claim 10, wherein the metallic foil has a precut pattern of window gate design, which can be partially ripped off to create window opening(s) for the microwave signal to pass through.

The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave confining unit is composed of a plurality of adjustable metallic reflectors surrounding the accommodating space, the adjustable metallic reflector(s) can be individually or collectively pushed outward to form window opening(s) to allow microwave signals to pass through and extend its detection capacity along the opening direction(s) of the window(s) opened.

13. The microwave motion sensor of claim 12, wherein when the microwave confining unit is operated without any of the adjustable metallic reflector(s) opened, the microwave sensing unit operates its detection capacity in a local detection zone;

wherein when the microwave confining unit is operated with at least one adjustable metallic reflector opened, the microwave sensing unit operates its detection capacity in a composite detection zone composed of the local detection zone and an extended destination detection zone created by the adjustable metallic reflector(s) opened leading to an entry.

14. The microwave motion sensor of claim 13, wherein the extended destination detection zone is for detecting a destination motion which is either an incoming motion or an outgoing motion, and the local detection zone is for detecting a local motion;

wherein a reflective incoming motion signal is featured with a frequency pattern received higher than a frequency pattern transmitted, while a reflective outgoing motion signal is featured with the frequency pattern received lower than the frequency pattern transmitted.

15. The microwave motion sensor of claim 13, wherein an occupancy detection software is designed in the control unit to record and update the occupancy status of the predetermined space;

wherein a numerical value counter of the occupancy detection software is established to operate the calculation of the occupancy status by counting the occurrences of each incoming motion and each outgoing motion in the predetermined space.

16. The microwave motion sensor of claim 15, wherein the microcontroller according to the numerical value of the occupancy counter automatically manages the working mode of a load(s) in the predetermined space by direct wiring control means or by wireless remote control means.

The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave confining unit is built with a plurality of pre-punched window gates facing different horizontal direction, the pre-punched window gate(s) can be individually or collectively pushed outward to form window opening(s) to allow the microwave signal to pass through and extend its detection capacity along the opening direction(s) of the window(s) opened.

18. The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave confining unit is designed with a swivel structure to allow angle adjustment for directing the detection zone toward the predetermined space.

19. The microwave motion sensor of claim 1, wherein the microwave confining unit is a metallic housing which has a window opening covered with a non-metallic cap, the microwave sensing unit is built inside the metallic housing and positioned behind the window opening.

20. An illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor, for intrusion detection in a predetermined space, the illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor comprising:

a control unit;

a microwave sensing unit coupled to the control unit, for transmitting and receiving a microwave signal; and

a microwave confining unit, for managing a detection zone of the microwave signal, having an accommodating space formed inside the microwave confining unit, and the microwave sensing unit being disposed inside the accommodating space; and

an illumination module coupled to the control unit;

wherein the circuit assembly is divided into the control unit and the microwave sensing unit, the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal varies based on the disposed position of the microwave sensing unit and the construction of the microwave confining unit, and the construction of the microwave confining unit varies based on the predetermined space.

21. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor of claim 20, further comprising an adjustable means for adjusting the disposed position of the microwave sensing unit in the microwave confining unit for managing the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal.

22. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor of claim 21, wherein the adjustable means is a telescopic unit integrated with the microwave sensing unit for moving the microwave sensing unit up and down inside the accommodating space.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor of claim 21, wherein the adjustable means is a telescopic unit integrated with the microwave confining unit for adjusting the position of the microwave confining unit relative to the microwave sensing unit for managing the scope of the detection zone of the microwave signal.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the control unit comprises a microcontroller with a hardware set up and software program codes to perform functions of generating the microwave signal, interpreting an echoed microwave signal received from the microwave sensing unit caused by a motion intrusion and accordingly managing the conduction state of the illumination module to turn on the illumination module upon intrusion detection.

25. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the control unit further comprises a programmable timer to offer one or more options of time delays for automatic shut off.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave sensing unit comprises a microwave signal transmitter and a microwave signal receiver, wherein the microwave sensing unit is structurally separated from the control unit while electrically remaining coupled with the control unit.

27. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is a hollow metallic construction or a hollow non-metallic construction laminated with metallic foil.

28. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 27, wherein the metallic foil has a pre-cut pattern of window gate design, which can be partially ripped off to create window opening(s) for the microwave signal to pass through.

The illumination apparatus according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is composed of a plurality of adjustable metallic reflectors surrounding the accommodating space, the adjustable metallic reflector(s) can be individually or collectively pushed outward to form window opening(s) to allow microwave signals to pass through and extend its detection capacity along the opening direction(s) of the window opening(s).

30. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 29, wherein when the microwave confining unit is operated without any of the adjustable metallic reflector(s) opened, the microwave sensing unit operates its detection capacity in a local detection zone;

wherein when the microwave confining unit is operated with at least one adjustable metallic reflector opened, the microwave sensing unit operates its detection capacity in a composite detection zone composed of the local detection zone and an extended destination detection zone created by the adjustable metallic reflector(s) opened leading to an entry.

31. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 30, wherein the extended destination detection zone is for detecting a destination motion which is either an incoming motion or an outgoing motion, and the local detection zone is for detecting a local motion;

wherein a reflective incoming motion signal is featured with a frequency pattern received higher than a frequency pattern transmitted, while a reflective outgoing motion signal is featured with the frequency pattern received lower than the frequency pattern transmitted.

32. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 30, wherein an occupancy detection software is designed in the control unit to record and update the occupancy status of the predetermined space;

wherein a numerical value counter of the occupancy detection software is established to operate the calculation of the occupancy status by counting the occurrences of each incoming motion and each outgoing motion in the predetermined space.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is built with a plurality of pre-punched window gates facing different horizontal direction, the pre-punched window gate(s) can be individually or collectively pulled outward to form window opening(s) to allow the microwave signal to pass through and extend its detection capacity along the opening direction(s) of the window opening(s).

34. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is designed with a swivel structure to allow angle adjustment.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is a metallic housing which has a window slot covered with a non-metallic cap, the microwave sensing unit is built inside the metallic housing and positioned behind the window slot.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the illumination module comprises a plurality of light emitting diodes and a light diffuser, wherein the light emitting diodes are installed behind the light diffuser for producing a diffused lighting effect, wherein the light diffuser is a hollow body for accommodating the control unit, the microwave sensing unit, the microwave confining unit and the light emitting diodes, wherein the light diffuser is further bonded with a threaded metallic cap with bipolar electrical construction for connecting to an A/C power socket.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, further comprising a base, a non-metallic heat dissipation structure and a light diffuser, wherein the illumination apparatus is a LED light bulb with a built-in microwave motion sensor, the base is connected to the light diffuser and the non-metallic heat dissipation structure, the illumination module is disposed on the non-metallic heat dissipation structure and installed behind the light diffuser, and the non-metallic heat dissipation structure has a cave for accommodating the microwave confining unit and the microwave sensing unit.

38. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 37, wherein the microwave confining unit is a metallic cup having at least one window opening on its side wall.

The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 20, wherein the microwave confining unit is a metallic heat dissipation structure, the illumination module is disposed on the metallic heat dissipation structure and the illumination apparatus is a LED light bulb with a built-in microwave motion sensor.

40. The illumination apparatus with a microwave motion sensor according to claim 39, wherein the metallic heat dissipation structure has at least one window opening on its side wall.
