Abstract

Systems and methods are presented which allow a user'"'"'s device to accept media from a variety of sources, process those media items based on their characteristics, and deliver the captured media to a pre-established variety of diverse locations with minimal or no user interaction. These systems and methods can also make media items available to a plurality of interne web sites without actually creating and delivering copies of files. In one embodiment, the diverse locations can each have individual delivery protocols (for example, login and formats) and when a number of media are available at the user'"'"'s device for delivery to storage locations the media can be delivered to pre-established locations with a single user command without regard to the individual location delivery requirements. In another embodiment, processing, delivery, and access to new media items is handled automatically based on pre-established criteria and analysis of the data and metadata of the media items themselves. While unobtrusive user feedback is displayed during media processing, no user attention or intervention is required as long as no changes to the default settings are desired.

Claims

1. A method of displaying media, said method comprising:

accessing from time to time from a plurality of user devices, said accessing being accomplished from an accessing location remote from said user devices and individually on a user by user basis; and

copying to said accessing location particular media files selected by said accessing location from an accessed device.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said copying is performed either a) without user involvement, or b) with said user only signifying acceptance or rejection of said copying.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein said copying comprises:

modifying said selected files to fit parameters of said accessing location.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein said accessing comprises:

obtaining a list of available media files from said accessed device; and

filtering by said remote location from an obtained list those media files that do not fit criteria copying to said remote location.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising;

filtering by said accessed device from an obtained list those media files that should not be transferred to said remote accessing location.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

accessing said remote location to obtain storage locations of said user'"'"'s media files.

7. A method of controlling media processing, said method comprising:

allowing a user who is in communication with a first merchant'"'"'s site to process media from said site in accordance with rules established by said site and under control of procedures established by said site;

identifying a second site separate from said first merchant'"'"'s site where processing rules particular to said user are maintained; and

processing said user'"'"'s media at said first merchant'"'"'s site in accordance with said user particular rules maintained at said identified second site.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein said first site has been pre-identified by said user for having access to said particular rules at said second site.
