Abstract

Compact optics for a head-worn computer that provides increased color gamut includes a reflective display with an array of pixels that includes a color filter array, a non-sequential light source that illuminates the reflective display, and optics that direct image light comprising light reflected by the reflective display to an eye of a user. The non-sequential light source includes an adjustable light source including multiple independently controllable lights with different colors.

Claims

1. Compact optics for a head-worn computer that provides increased color gamut, comprising:

a reflective display with an array of pixels that includes a color filter array;

a non-sequential light source that illuminates the reflective display; and

optics that direct image light comprising light reflected by the reflective display to an eye of a user,

wherein the non-sequential light source includes an adjustable light source including multiple independently controllable lights with different colors.

2. The compact optics of claim 1, wherein the multiple independently controllable lights are LEDs.

3. The compact optics of claim 1, wherein the different colors include red, green and blue.

4. The compact optics of claim 1, wherein the different colors include cyan, magenta and yellow.

5. The compact optics of claim 1, wherein the multiple independently controllable lights each provide narrow wavelength bands of light.

6. The compact optics of claim 5, wherein the wavelength bands are each less than 40 nm wide.

7. The compact optics of claim 1, wherein the multiple independently controllable lights each provide light with purity over 60%.
