Abstract

Particular embodiments described herein provide for a wearable electronic device, such as a bracelet, watch, wristband or armband that includes a circuit board coupled to a plurality of electronic components (which may include any type of components, elements, circuitry, etc.). One particular implementation of a wearable electronic device may include a strap portion and a display portion. The display portion may include a display; one or more input elements configured to receive one or more interactions that may be associated with: selecting a preconfigured message to communicate and selecting one or more other electronic devices to which to communicate a preconfigured message. The wearable electronic device may further include wireless communication circuitry configured to communicate a selected preconfigured message to one or more selected other electronic devices.

26. A wearable electronic device, comprising:

logic, at least a portion of which is partially implemented in hardware, the logic configured to;

establish a wireless connection with one or more other electronic devices within a proximity of the wearable electronic device using wireless communication circuitry of the wearable electronic device;

transmit location information to the one or more other electronic devices; and

receive location information from the one or more other electronic devices.

27. The wearable electronic device of claim 26, wherein the logic further comprises:

at least one processor; and

at least one memory element.

28. The wearable electronic device of claim 26, wherein the logic is further configured to:

discover, using the wireless communication circuitry, each of the one or more other electronic devices within the proximity of the wearable electronic device based, at least in part on a device-type identifier (ID) of each of the one or more other electronic devices.

29. The wearable electronic device of claim 26, wherein the logic is further configured to:

generate one or more proximity alerts for the wearable electronic device when at least one of the one or more other electronic devices is within a predetermined proximity or outside a predetermined proximity of the wearable electronic device.

30. The wearable electronic device of claim 29, wherein the one or more proximity alerts comprise one or more of:

a haptic effect generated using one or more haptic elements;

an audible sound generated using one or more speaker elements; and

an alert generated for a display portion of the wearable electronic device.

31. The wearable electronic device of claim 26, wherein the logic is further configured to:

generate a mapping user interface for a display portion of the wearable electronic device.

32. The wearable electronic device of claim 31, wherein for the mapping user interface, the logic is further configured to:

display a first icon associated with a location of the wearable electronic device;

display one or more second icons associated with locations of the one or more other electronic devices relative to the location of the wearable electronic device; and

display one or more directional indicators.

33. The wearable electronic device of claim 31, wherein for the mapping user interface, the logic is further configured to:

display a distance between the wearable electronic device and at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.

34. The wearable electronic device of claim 31, wherein for the mapping user interface the logic is further configured to:

display location information for at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.

35. At least one computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause an wearable electronic device to:

establish a wireless connection with one or more other electronic devices within a proximity of the wearable electronic device using wireless communication circuitry of the wearable electronic device;

transmit location information to the one or more other electronic devices; and

receive location information from the one or more other electronic devices.

36. The medium of claim 35, further comprising instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

discover, using the wireless communication circuitry, each of the one or more other electronic devices within the proximity of the wearable electronic device based, at least in part on a device-type identifier (ID) of each of the one or more other electronic devices.

37. The medium of claim 35, further comprising instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

generate one or more proximity alerts for the wearable electronic device when at least one of the one or more other electronic devices is within a predetermined proximity or outside a predetermined proximity of the wearable electronic device.

38. The medium of claim 35, further comprising instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

generate a mapping user interface for a display portion of the wearable electronic device.

39. The medium of claim 38, wherein for the mapping user interface, the medium further comprises instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

display a first icon associated with a location of the wearable electronic device;

display one or more second icons associated with locations of the one or more other electronic devices relative to the location of the wearable electronic device; and

display one or more directional indicators.

40. The medium of claim 38, wherein for the mapping user interface, the medium further comprises instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

display a distance between the wearable electronic device and at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.

41. The medium of claim 38, wherein for the mapping user interface, the medium further comprises instructions that, when executed, cause the wearable electronic device to:

display location information for at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.

42. A method comprising:

establishing a wireless connection with one or more other electronic devices within a proximity of a wearable electronic device using wireless communication circuitry of the wearable electronic device;

transmitting location information to the one or more other electronic devices; and

receiving location information from the one or more other electronic devices.

43. The method of claim 42, further comprising:

generating a mapping user interface for a display portion of the wearable electronic device.

44. The method of claim 43, further comprising:

displaying a distance between the wearable electronic device and at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.

45. The method of claim 43, further comprising:

displaying location information for at least one of the one or more other electronic devices.
