Abstract

A radio communication device is described comprising: a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with another device; a tamper-proof circuit connected to the transceiver circuit; and a processor connected to the tamper-proof circuit and configured to exchange data with the transceiver circuit via the tamper-proof circuit.

23. An NFC controller circuit, comprising:

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to transfer first data received over the transceiver circuit into the secure element, where a secure function is performed on the first data to produce second data.

24. The NFC controller circuit of claim 23, further comprising:

one or more elements from a group of elements consisting of;

an embedded secure element;

a Universal Integrated Circuit Card; and

a Subscriber Identity Module.

25. The NFC controller circuit of claim 24,

wherein the embedded secure element is an embedded Subscriber Identity Module.

26. The NFC controller circuit of claim 23,

integrated in a System-on-Chip or an Integrated Circuit.

27. The NFC controller circuit of claim 23,

wherein the interface is a single wire protocol interface.

28. A device, comprising:

an NFC controller, comprising;

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to transfer first data received over the transceiver circuit into the secure element, where a secure function is performed on the first data to produce second data;

the at least one secure element coupled to the NFC controller via the interface;

the application processor circuit; and

an antenna coupled to the NFC controller.

29. An NFC controller circuit, comprising:

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to transfer first data received over the transceiver circuit into the secure element to provide authentication.

30. The NFC controller circuit of claim 29, further comprising:

one or more elements from a group of elements consisting of;

an embedded secure element;

a Universal Integrated Circuit Card; and

a Subscriber Identity Module.

31. The NFC controller circuit of claim 30,

wherein the embedded secure element is an embedded Subscriber Identity Module.

32. The NFC controller circuit of claim 29,

integrated in a System-on-Chip or an Integrated Circuit.

33. The NFC controller circuit of claim 29,

wherein the interface is a single wire protocol interface.

34. A device, comprising:

an NFC controller, comprising;

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to transfer first data received over the transceiver circuit into the secure element to provide authentication;

the at least one secure element coupled to the NFC controller via the interface;

the application processor circuit; and

an antenna coupled to the NFC controller.

35. An NFC controller circuit, comprising:

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to directly and exclusively send sensitive data received over the transceiver circuit to the at least one secure element, where it is securely processed without exposing the sensitive data directly to the application processor circuit.

36. The NFC controller circuit of claim 35, further comprising:

one or more elements from a group of elements consisting of;

an embedded secure element;

a Universal Integrated Circuit Card; and

a Subscriber Identity Module.

37. The NFC controller circuit of claim 36,

wherein the embedded secure element is an embedded Subscriber Identity Module.

38. The NFC controller circuit of claim 35,

integrated in a System-on-Chip or an Integrated Circuit.

39. The NFC controller circuit of claim 35,

wherein the interface is a single wire protocol interface.

40. A device, comprising:

an NFC controller, comprising;

a transceiver circuit configured to communicate wirelessly with a device; and

an interface configured to communicate with at least one secure element;

wherein the NFC controller is further configured to directly and exclusively send sensitive data received over the transceiver circuit to the at least one secure element, where it is securely processed without exposing the sensitive data directly to the application processor circuit;

the at least one secure element coupled to the NFC controller via the interface;

the application processor circuit; and

an antenna coupled to the NFC controller.

41. A method, comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface, wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the NFC transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

transferring first data received via the NFC transceiver circuit into the secure element, where a secure function is performed on the first data to produce second data.

42. A method, comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface, wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the NFC transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

transferring first data received via the NFC transceiver circuit into the secure element to provide authentication.

43. A method, comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface; and

directly and exclusively sending sensitive data received over the transceiver circuit to the at least one secure element, where it is securely processed without exposing the sensitive data directly to the application processor circuit.

44. A computer readable medium having recorded instructions thereon which, when executed by a processor, make the processor perform a method for performing radio communication, the method comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface, wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the NFC transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

transferring first data received via the NFC transceiver circuit into the secure element, where a secure function is performed on the first data to produce second data.

45. A computer readable medium having recorded instructions thereon which, when executed by a processor, make the processor perform a method for performing radio communication, the method comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface, wherein the transceiver circuit is free from a direct physical signaling between the NFC transceiver circuit and an application processor circuit;

transferring first data received via the BFC transceiver circuit into the secure element to provide authentication.

46. A computer readable medium having recorded instructions thereon which, when executed by a processor, make the processor perform a method for performing radio communication, the method comprising:

communicating wirelessly with a device via an NFC transceiver circuit;

communicating with at least one secure element via an interface; and

directly and exclusively sending sensitive data received over the transceiver circuit to the at least one secure element, where it is securely processed without exposing the sensitive data directly to the application processor circuit.
