Abstract

A computer-implemented method for importing portions of an object metadata graph. In an embodiment, the method includes receiving an object metadata graph to store in a metadata repository. The method identifying two portions of the object metadata graph. The method creating a first linkage point between two portions of the object metadata, wherein the first linkage point represents a first portion of the object metadata graph referencing a second portion of the object metadata graph. The method sending the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository based at least on the first linkage point.

Claims

1. A method for importing portions of an object metadata graph, the method comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors, an object metadata graph to store in a metadata repository;

identifying, by one or more processors, two portions of the object metadata graph;

creating, by one or more processors, a first linkage point between the two portions of the object metadata graph, wherein the first linkage point represents a first portion of the object metadata graph referencing a second portion of the object metadata graph; and

sending, by one or more processors, the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository based at least on the first linkage point.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, by one or more processors, that the object metadata graph includes a reference between the first portion and the second portion.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph, further comprises:

identifying, by one or more processors, that the object metadata graph includes a non-circular reference between the first portion and the second portion;

sending, by one or more processors, the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository, wherein the second portion is not a source reference; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, sending, by one or more processors, the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying, by one or more processors, a third portion of the object metadata graph;

creating, by one or more processors, a second linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the first portion of the object metadata graph; and

creating, by one or more processors, a third linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the second portion of the object metadata graph.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

identifying, by one or more processors, that the object metadata graph includes circular references between the first portion, the second portion, and the third portion;

sending, by one or more processors, the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, sending, by one or more processors, the first portion and the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein sending the first portion and the third portion, further comprises:

sending, by one or more processors, the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the first portion, sending, by one or more processors, the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

7. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

identifying, by one or more processors, that the object metadata graph includes a non-circular reference; and

sorting, by one or more processors, the object metadata graph based on the identified circular references and non-circular references.

8. A computer program product for importing portions of an object metadata graph, the computer program product comprising:

one or more computer readable tangible storage media and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more storage media, the program instructions comprising;

program instructions to receive an object metadata graph to store in a metadata repository;

program instructions to identify two portions of the object metadata graph;

program instructions to create a first linkage point between the two portions of the object metadata graph, wherein the first linkage point represents a first portion of the object metadata graph referencing a second portion of the object metadata graph; and

program instructions to send the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository based at least on the first linkage point.

9. The computer program product of claim 8, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes a reference between the first portion and the second portion.

10. The computer program product of claim 8, wherein sending the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph, further comprises program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes a non-circular reference between the first portion and the second portion;

send the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository, wherein the second portion is not a source reference; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, send the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

11. The computer program product of claim 8, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify a third portion of the object metadata graph;

create a second linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the first portion of the object metadata graph; and

create a third linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the second portion of the object metadata graph.

12. The computer program product of claim 11, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes circular references between the first portion, the second portion, and the third portion;

send the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, send the first portion and the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

13. The computer program product of claim 12, wherein sending the first portion and the third portion, further comprises program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

send the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the first portion, send the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

14. The computer program product of claim 12, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes a non-circular reference; and

sort the object metadata graph based on the identified circular references and non-circular references.

15. A computer system for importing portions of an object metadata graph, the computer system comprising:

one or more computer processors;

one or more computer readable storage media; and

program instructions stored on the computer readable storage media for execution by at least one of the one or more computer processors, the program instructions comprising;

program instructions to receive an object metadata graph to store in a metadata repository;

program instructions to identify two portions of the object metadata graph;

program instructions to create a first linkage point between the two portions of the object metadata graph, wherein the first linkage point represents a first portion of the object metadata graph referencing a second portion of the object metadata graph; and

program instructions to send the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository based at least on the first linkage point.

16. The computer system of claim 15, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes a reference between the first portion and the second portion.

17. The computer system of claim 15, wherein sending the first portion and the second portion of the object metadata graph, further comprises program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes a non-circular reference between the first portion and the second portion;

send the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository, wherein the second portion is not a source reference; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, send the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

18. The computer system of claim 15, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify a third portion of the object metadata graph;

create a second linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the first portion of the object metadata graph; and

create a third linkage point, wherein the third portion of the object metadata graph references the second portion of the object metadata graph.

19. The computer system of claim 18, further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

identify that the object metadata graph includes circular references between the first portion, the second portion, and the third portion;

send the second portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the second portion, send the first portion and the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.

20. The computer system of claim 19, wherein sending the first portion and the third portion, further comprises program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

send the first portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository; and

subsequent to sending the first portion, send the third portion of the object metadata graph to the metadata repository.
